I get it they yell at you, too, but they do that because they want you to [listen], and if you don’t listen they have no choice [but] to yell at you or call a Dean. But you put this all on yourself. Didn’t your parents teach to respect adults? Try to be more respectful with the classroom and materials. Advisory teacher. Who’s the Next Worst Team in the NFL? BY: Reid Wooldridge For years, the Browns have been considered the worst team in the NFL. The team with the least talent, the worst coaching staff, and the worst management group in the league. But on Thursday, March 9th, at 3 PM EST, NFL free agency started. The Browns started free agency with over $100 million in cap space. To put that in perspective, the next closest team in cap space was the 49ers, who had more than $25 million less. They chose to spend that money on getting a Wide Receiver to pair with Corey Coleman, 2 different offensive lineman to transform one of the worst lines in the league into a potential top-5 one. They traded for a stud in Jamie Collins last season. They also have quality players like Chris Kirksey, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Danny Shelton, as well as drafting a few defensive players like Carl Nassib and Joe Schobert. Their biggest weakness is their secondary. That’s also the strongest position group in the upcoming 2017 draft, in which they have 11 total picks, and 5 in the first 3 rounds. That’s not to mention next year, in which there is at least 2 great Quarterback prospects, the other position that the Browns are weak at. The Browns have 11 picks in that draft as well. The Browns spent a ton of money in free agency this year, and still have the 2nd- most cap space in the NFL. And as for the coaching, Hue Jackson was brought in as Head Coach, and he did the best with what he had last year. Now Gregg Williams is at Defensive Coordinator, who built the Rams defense into a top-10 unit while he was in St. Louis and Los Angeles. Congratulations, Nyle! Who’s the Next Worst Team in the NFL? (continued) Now this roster is much improved from what Jackson had last year when they went 1-15, when there were injuries, suspensions, and all around bad talent. Life has changed drastically over the last few weeks for Browns fans. They were one of the most depressing franchises in the league. And now there is hope. I’m not saying the Browns will be a contender for the playoffs within the next few years, although I wouldn’t be surprised. But they might improve from a 1-3 win team to a 5-7 win team. And for Cleveland fans that haven’t had a playoff win since 1994, and haven’t achieved a playoff berth since 2002. Now, if Cleveland isn’t the worst team in the NFL anymore, then there has to be a next one up. (Or down) Here are 3 possible replacements: 1: New York Jets: If there was a QB situation out there worse than the Browns, it would have to be the Jets. Plus, what used to be one of the better wide receiver corps in the league is now down to an old Eric Decker coming off surgery, and Devin Smith, who never lived up to his second-round expectations. And now with Damon “Snacks” Harrison gone, and Sheldon Richardson looking like he’ll soon follow, their defensive line is about to be in tatters, especially if Muhammed Wilkerson continues his 2016 slump. And the D-Line was their strong point. Their secondary is horrible, especially the cornerbacks. Their linebackers aren’t much better. Their offensive line went from decent in 2015 to atrocious in 2016. Overall, this team took the biggest slide in the NFL from 2015-2016, outside of Carolina. 2: San Francisco 49ers: Even if Kyle Shanahan brings a great offensive mind into the franchise, that’s like putting lipstick on a pig. This team has been dysfunctional ever since a guy named Jim Harbaugh got fired and left for the Michigan Wolverines. Shanahan will be the fourth head coach in as many years, and for a stretch of late February and early March, the 49ers didn’t have a QB officially signed to their roster. Now, going into next season, they might get Kirk Cousins. That’s an upgrade over Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick, but besides him, Joe Staley, and his former teammate Pierre Garçon, the 49ers best offensive player is Kyle Juszczyk. And it doesn’t get much better on defense. Now, the Niners do have a lot of cap space. But their draft pick situation isn’t as favorable as the one in Cleveland. They have 10 picks in 2017, but the majority of their picks are in the back end of the draft, in rounds 5, 6, and 7. Cleveland, as said earlier has 5 top 3 round picks in 2017. In 2018, it gets worse for the Niners. They have just 8 picks, one a round, and an extra in the seventh. If the 49ers can get Kirk Cousins by trade and get a good pass rusher in the draft, they might be decent. 3: Chicago Bears: When your best player is Alshon Jeffery, and he leaves for Philadelphia, you’re in trouble. Although the Bears have decent players on defense like Pernell McPhee, Eddie Goldman, and Jerrell Freeman on defense, on offense, Mike Glennon isn’t the long-term answer at QB, and although you have a stud running back in Jordan Howard, the O- Line isn’t good enough to give him big enough holes to sustain that offense. Plus, if Howard is your only good offensive player, if he gets hurt, the team is dead. Kevin White and Cameron Meredith aren’t good starting receivers. Chicago is also the home to the worst offensive coordinator in football, so they won’t be a playoff contender anytime soon. Overall, if the Browns get their Quarterback, whether it be in free agency, this years draft, next years draft, or beyond, I think they can be a playoff contender within a few years.
