WHERE HAVE ALL THE STARTERS GONE... JMU’s opening lineup at Virginia featured none of the same starters as its CAA Championship game victory over Northeastern. Featuring the most fi fth-year seniors in the country a year ago, JMU’s quartet of Devon Moore, A.J. Davis, Alioune Diouf and Rayshawn Goins have moved on while Andre Nation will miss the fi rst half of the season suspended.

... TO THE PROFESSIONAL RANKS Four members of JMU’s CAA Championship squad are playing profes- sional basketball, mostly overseas. Alioune Diouf (France) and Devon Moore (Hungary) were the fi rst to begin competition in the Fall. On Nov. 1 A.J. Davis was drafted by the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA D-League. Rayshawn Goins also made his pro debut in November in Peru.

HEAD COACH BECOMES THE ASSISTANT Former Siena, Marquette, Lamar and Wagner head coach Mike Deane joined the JMU coaching staff this year as an assistant. In his fi rst year coaching at Siena, his senior point guard was Matt Brady. Deane joined the staff to get back into coaching after several years off from Wagner as well as wanting to work with Matt. In addition to adding humor to the locker room, Deane brought winning experience as one of 28 coaches in Division I history to take three diff erent teams to the NCAA Tournament. He currently possesses the most head coaching career wins (437) at four- year schools of any assistant coach in the country.

JOINING THE RANKS JMU signed two recruits during the early fall signing period. The new- comers are 6-5 swing guard Dante Sterling of Fayetteville, Ga. and 6-7 forward Hari Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.
