FOREWORD

CCTNS is a prestigious project implemented successfully in Police. Approximately, 39 lakhs case files/records have been digitized and stored for the use of Investigating Officers through a dedicated network. The initial benefits of the system have been experienced by the field officers. This “e-Digest” is an attempt to showcase some of the success stories of CCTNS reported in the year 2014. Hope this endeavour would motivate officers to reap the benefits of the system by using the CIPRUS application more extensively.

CCTNS USEFULNESS REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2014

Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) aims to modernize the police force by creating a National-wide networked infrastructure to track crimes and criminals. Hon’ble CM launched the Citizen Portal and inaugurated the CCTNS project on 13.03.2013. So far, 1961 locations (1482 Police Stations, 479 higher offices) are covered by this project. All the police stations (1482) are streaming live data to the server placed in the SDC and the initial benefits of the application is already being felt at the police stations. As many as 108 cases of missing person/ un-identified dead body and 155 cases of vehicle theft have been detected, besides, 752 passport verification and 89 antecedent verification matched with criminal profile and was rejected during the year 2014.

I. MATCHING OF STOLEN / RECOVERED VEHICLES:-

CCTNS portal facilitated detection of stolen vehicle in 155 cases. Out of this, some noteworthy cases are described below:-

1. Inter-District Recovery of Stolen Vehicles:- i. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved after 4 years in District:- A two wheeler was seized by Tiruvallur District, Sevvapet PS Cr.No.226/2014, u/s.102 Cr.PC and the details of two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by TOT Tr.Senthil kumar. As a result, on 01.09.2014 the above recovered two wheeler was matched

with a stolen vehicle case reported at PS Cr.No.382/2010, u/s.379 IPC. ii. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved after 4 years in District:- During the Police patrol, a Two wheeler TVS Victor bearing registration No. TN-37-AH-9433 was seized by , Palladam PS and details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.R.Manivannan, PC 476. As a result, on 19.08.2014 the recovered two wheeler was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at City, Singanallur PS Cr.No.1098/2010, u/s.379 IPC. iii. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved after 5 years in :- A four wheeler Tata Indica bearing registration No. TN-45-AP- 2291 was seized by Karur District, Pasupathypalayam PS and details of the four wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by Sub-Inspector of Police Tr.Gopal. As a result, on 01.07.2014, the recovered four wheeler was identified that this vehicle involved in a crime at Tiruppur District, Vellakoil PS Cr.No.723/2009, u/s.279, 337 IPC. iv. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved after 4 years in :- A Vehicle bearing registration No. TN-49-Y-3949 was seized in connection with prohibition case by Nagapattinam District, Poraiyar PS Cr.No.282/2013, u/s.4(1),(aaa), r/w 4(1-A), TNP Act and details of the Vehicle were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by SCRB Detachment team. On 10.08.2014, it was came to notice that

the recovered four wheeler were identified that this vehicle involved in a crime at Pudukottai District, Manamelkudi PS Cr.No.24/2009, u/s.279, 337 IPC. v. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved after 5 years in Tirunelveli City:- Two wheelers bearing registration No. TN-58-J-9988, and TN- 58-B-4860 were seized by Tirunelveli City, Palayamkottai PS and details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by WHC 596 Tmt.Priya Lakshmi. As a result, on 05.04.2014 the recovered two wheelers were matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at City, Theedir Nagar PS Cr.No.554/2009, u/s.379 IPC and Cr.No.2024/2009, u/s.379 IPC respectively. vi. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved by :- A motor vehicle bearing Registration No. TN-64-5929 was seized by Cuddalore District, Annamalai Nagar PS Cr.No.243/2014 u/s.147, 148, 324, 307 & 302 IPC r/w 3 of TNPPD Act, 3 & 4 of Explosive Act, and 3(i) (S), 3(i) ( r ), 3(i) (v), 3(2) (Va), SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities amendment ordinance Act-2014 was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by HC Bakthavachalam. On 07.09.14, the seized vehicle was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Madurai City, South Gate PS Cr.No.255/2014, u/s.379 IPC. vii. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved by :- A four wheeler bearing registration No. TN-37-VB-6453 was seized on 25.12.2013 by Tiruvannamalai District, Arani Taluk PS Cr.No.430/2013, u/s. 4(1) (aaa), r/w 4(1) (i), 7 of

TNP Act, r/w 6, 7 RS rules Act 2000 for involving above crime. Details of the four wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by Tmt.Meera HC 1371. As a result, on 26.12.2014 the seized four wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Salem City, Azhagaram PS Cr.No.19/2013, u/s.379 IPC D.R.24.01.2013. viii. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved by :- A two wheeler Hero Hondo Splendor bearing registration No. TN-38-BH- 1798 was seized by Coimbatore District, Mahalingapuram PS Cr.No.47/2013, u/s.379 IPC, and the details of two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO HC 1873 Tr.Panchamirtham. Finally, on 04.07.2014 the seized two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Coimbatore City, B-3 Race course PS Cr.No.1619/2012, u/s.379 IPC. ix. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved by Pudukottai District:- A seized two wheeler Hero Hondo Splendor bearing registration No. TN- 07-AS-8723 was recovered on 7.09.2014, by Pudukottai District, Nagudi PS and details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO WHC 1462 Tmt.Yamunadevi. As a result, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Cuddalore District, Chidambaram Town PS Cr.No.487/2012.

7 x. An inter-district 5 vehicle theft cases resolved by :- Suspect two wheelers, Bajaj Discover bearing registration Nos. TN-60-H- 1950, TN-59-U-7906 Hero Honda Splendor Plus, TN-02-AM-4680 Hero Honda Splendor, TN-33-W-3781 Suzuki Samurai and TN-64-B-6771 Bajaj Pulsar was seized by Madurai District, Othakadai PS and the details of two wheelers were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO HC 862 Tr.Ravichandran. As a result, on 07.08.2014 the seized two wheelers were matched with stolen vehicle cases reported at , Periyakulam PS Cr.No.339/2013, u/s.379 IPC, Madurai City, Thilagar Thidal PS Cr.No.1088/2012, u/s.379 IPC, Madurai City SS Colony PS Cr.No.422/2013, U/s.379, Karuppayurani PS Cr.No.68/2007 u/s.279, 337 IPC and Madurai City Sellur PS Cr.No.69/2012, u/s.379 IPC respectively. xi. An inter-district robbery case resolved by Ramnad:- A two wheeler bearing registration No. TN-65-B-2527 was seized by Ramnad District, Kenikarai PS Cr.No.408/2014, U/s.379 IPC and the details of two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Muthukumar, Gr.I PC 1316. On 5.10.2014, it came to notice that the recovered two wheeler was identified to be a seized vehicle involved in a crime reported at Thoothukudi, Vilathikulam PS Cr.No.214/2014, u/s.394 IPC. xii. An inter-district vehicle theft case resolved by :- A two wheeler bearing registration No. TN-59-AJ-9293 was seized from an accused who involved in crime by Thoothukudi District, Kovilpatti West PS Cr.No.743/2013 8

U/s.341, 294(b), 397, 307, 336, 506(2) IPC. Details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Dhamodharan PC 2493 and Tr.Santhanaraj, HC 2144. As a result, on 14.03.2014, the seized two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Madurai Thilagar Thidal PS Cr.No.1433/2013, u/s.379 IPC. 2. Recovery of Stolen Vehicles Within the District:- i. Vehicle theft case resolved by :- On 5.3.2014, a two wheeler bearing registration No. TN-23- AD-8641 was seized by Vellore District, Katpadi PS Cr.No.54/2014, u/s.379 IPC (Snatching case). Details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by Detachment team. On 20.08.14 the seized two wheeler was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Vellore North PS Cr.No.8/2014, u/s.379 IPC. ii. Vehicle theft case resolved by Vellore within 3 months:- During the Police patrol, a vehicle bearing registration No. TN-23-AM- 1901 was seized by Vellore District, Melpadi PS and details of the vehicle was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Vinothkumar, PC 2986. As a result, on 22.09.2014 the recovered vehicle was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Katpadi PS Cr.No.221/2014, u/s.379 IPC D/R.30.06.2014. 3. Identification of Abandoned Vehicles:- i. Abandoned Vehicle case matched by Tiruvallur District:- A two wheeler was seized by Tiruvallur District, Manavala Nagar PS Cr.No.265/2014, u/s.102 Cr.PC, and details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details

through CCTNS by TOT Tr.Senthil kumar. Finally, on 02.09.2014 the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at PS Cr.No.78/2014, U/s.379 IPC. ii. 2 Abandoned Vehicle cases matched with Inter-district Vehicle Theft case by Chennai City:- Abandoned two wheelers, Splendor Plus bearing registration No. TN-07-Q-5604 and Hero Honda Passion Pro TN-38-BH- 0643 was seized by Chennai City, PS and the details of two wheelers were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO WHC 18695 Tmt. Kavitha. As a result, on 22.12.2014 the recovered two wheelers were matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Zambazzar PS Cr.No.146/2013, u/s.379 IPC and Vellore District, Katpadi PS Cr.No.157/2014, u/s.379 IPC respectively. iii. Abandoned Vehicle case matched by Kancheepuram:- An abandoned two wheeler bearing registration No. TN-21- AQ-0158 was recovered by Kancheepuram District, Sriperumbudur PS and details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Gr.I 138 Tmt. Mahadevi. On 26.08.14 the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at SV.Chatram PS Cr.No.252/2014, u/s.379 IPC. iv. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle Theft case by Kancheepuram District:- An abandoned two wheeler with registration No. TN-23-AA- 0466 was recovered on by Kancheepuram District, PS and details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by SI Tmt. Lakshmi. 10

Finally, on 11.09.2014 a recovered two wheeler was matched with this stolen vehicle case reported at Vellore District, Vellore North PS Cr.No.116/2013, U/s.379 IPC. v. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle Theft case by Cuddalore District:- A motor vehicle bearing registration No. TN-04-6788 seized by Cuddalore District, Kattumanarkudi PS under 102 Cr.PC. Details of the seized vehicle was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PC.Tr.Viswanathan. As a result, on 08.09.2014, the seized vehicle was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Tiruppur District, Tiruppur Rural PS Cr.No.7988/2010, u/s.379 IPC. Thus, four years old stolen vehicle case was detected with the help of CCTNS. vi. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle Theft case by Tiruvannamalai District:- A vehicle bearing registration No. PY-01-AG-0483 was seized by Tiruvannamalai District, Arani Town PS Cr.No.324/2014, u/s. 102 Cr.PC. Details of the vehicle was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by Tmt.A.Gnana Amudha HC 306. As a result, on 06.07.2014 the recovered vehicle was matched with a stolen vehicle case at Vilupuram District, Tindivanam PS Cr.No.1085/2007, u/s.379 IPC. vii. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Crime case by Salem City:- An abandoned Two Wheeler TVS SUZUKI bearing registration No. TCE-9319 was seized by Salem City, Sooramangalam PS. Details of the vehicle was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by SCRB Detachment team. As a result, on 27.08.2014, it was identified that the seized two wheeler involved in a crime at Sivagangai District,

Elayangudi PS Cr.No.498/2012, u/s.21(4) Mines & Minerals (Dev.&Regln.) Act. viii. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle Theft case by :- A two wheeler TVS 50 bearing registration No. TN-39-4857 was seized by Salem District, Sankari PS Cr.No.32/2014, u/s. 102 Cr.PC. Details of the vehicle was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Chandran, Gr.I PC 1047. As a result, on 16.10.2014 it was came to notice that the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Tiruppur District, Tiruppur Rural PS Cr.No.09/2002, u/s.379 IPC. ix. 2 Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Road Accident case by Salem District:- A two wheeler TVS 50 bearing registration No. TN 30 D 8694 was seized by Salem District, Sankari PS Cr.No.32/2014, u/s. 102 Cr.PC. Details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Chandran, Gr.I PC 1047. On 16.10.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Mechery PS Cr.No.145/2010, u/s.279 and 304 A IPC. A two wheeler Yamaha bearing registration No. TN-28-L-0742 was seized by Salem District, Sankari PS Cr.No.30/2014, u/s. 102 Cr.PC. Details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Chandran, Gr.I PC 1047. On 16.10.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Thevoor PS Cr.No.148/2012, u/s.279 and 304 A IPC.

Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Vehicle theft case pending for 5 years by Coimbatore City:- An abandoned two wheeler TVS Sports bearing registration No. TN-37-AL-7481 was seized by Coimbatore City, Saibaba Colony PS.Cr.No.1342/13, u/s.102 Cr.PC. Details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by TOT Tr.Senthilkumar, HC 1071. On 18.08.2014, the recovered two wheeler were matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Race Course PS Cr.No.1391/2009, u/s.379 IPC.

xi. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case pending for 4 years by Tiruppur City:- An abandoned two wheeler TVS XL Super bearing registration No. TN-33-AQ-5971 was seized by Tiruppur City,

Tiruppur South PS. Details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by SCRB Detachment team. On 30.07.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at , Karungalpalayam PS Cr.No.385/2010, u/s.379 IPC. xii. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case by Tiruppur District:- An abandoned two wheeler TVS XL Super bearing registration No. TN-41-AA-4262 was seized, by Tiruppur District, Uthukuli PS and the details of two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.M.Murali, PC 610. As a result, on 31.07.2014 the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Kinathukadavu PS Cr.No.47/2013, u/s.379 IPC.

Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case pending for 7 years by Erode District:- An abandoned two wheeler Yamaha bearing registration No. TN-39-AK- 8528 was seized by Erode District, Erode Town PS Cr.No.893/2008 u/s.102 Cr.PC and details of the two wheeler was compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by SCRB Detachment team. As a result, on 12.08.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Tiruppur North PS Cr.No.1867/2007, u/s.379 IPC. xiv. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case pending for 7 years by Dindigul:- An abandoned two wheeler TVS Victor bearing registration No. TN-58-H- 7288 was seized by , Town North PS u/s.102 Cr.PC., and details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO WHC 322 N.Chandra. On 29.07.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a stolen vehicle case reported at Madurai District, Thirunagar PS Cr.No.400/2007, U/s.380 IPC. xv. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case pending for 5 years by Theni District:- An abandoned two wheeler Bajaj Pulsar bearing registration No. TN-38-X-0505 was seized by Theni District, Thenkarai PS Cr.No.231/2014, u/s.102 Cr.PC. and the details of two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Iyappan. On 1.06.2014, the recovered two wheeler was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Tiruppur District, Tiruppur North PS Cr.No.101/2009, U/s.379 IPC.

Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case by Ramnad District:- An abandoned two wheeler bearing registration No. TN-65-E- 2354 was seized by Ramnad District, Parthibanoor PS and the details of two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by PDEO Tmt.Thenmozhi, Gr.I WPC 1188. On 2.10.2014, the seized two wheeler was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Madurai City, Vilakkuthoon PS Cr.No.131/2013, u/s.379 IPC. xvii. Abandoned Vehicle case matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case by within 2 weeks:- An abandoned two wheeler Hero Honda Splendor bearing registration No. TN-72-AA-6807 was seized by Tirunelveli District, Nanguneri PS Cr.No.217/2014, u/s.102 Cr.PC DR 23.10.2014 and details of the two wheeler were compared with stolen motor vehicle details through CCTNS by WHC 286 Tmt.Mary Kala. As a result, on 10.11.2014 the seized two wheeler was matched with a vehicle theft case reported at Tirunelveli City, Perumalpuram PS Cr.No.408/2014, u/s.380 IPC., DR 23.09.2014. xviii. 2 Abandoned Vehicle cases matched with Inter-district Vehicle theft case pending for 4 years by Kanniyakumari District:- Two abandoned two wheelers Hero Honda CBZ bearing registration No.TN-74-V-0061 and Suzuki Max 100R bearing Registration No.TN-72-V-5641 were recovered by Suchindram PS, and details of the two wheelers were compared with stolen motor vehicles details through CCTNS by PDEO SSI Tr.Muthukrishnan. On 20.10.2014, the seized vehicles were matched with vehicle theft case reported at

Kottar PS Cr.No.1423/2012, u/s.379 IPC and Thuthookudi district, Thazhamuthunagar PS Cr.No.257/2010 U/s.379 IPC. II. MATCHING OF UN-IDENTIFIED DEAD BODY WITH MISSING PERSONS:- CCTNS portal has been instrumental for matching of Un- identified Dead Bodies with Missing Persons in 20 cases. Out of this, some noteworthy cases are described below:- 1. Inter-District Matching of UIDB with Missing Person:- i. An inter-district Missing Person case resolved within 10 days by Kancheepuram District:- On 21.11.2014, an un-identified dead body was recovered by Kancheepuram District, Mamallapuram PS. Features of the body was compared with a missing person details through CCTNS by PDEO Tmt. Fathima Begum, WHC 175. On 30.11.2014, the recovered body was matched with a missing person case reported at Chennai Railway Police District, Chennai Central PS Cr.No.303/2014 u/s. Man Missing. ii. 2 Missing Person cases resolved by Vellore District:- A man missing case was reported at Vellore District, Sathuvachary PS. Cr.No.256/2014. Physical features of the missing person was compared with un-identified dead body details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Sadanandam, HC 3481. Finally, on 24.08.2014 the missing person’s details was matched with an un-identified dead body reported at Vellore North PS Cr.No.400/2014 u/s. 174 Cr.PC. A man missing case was reported at Vellore District, Vellore North PS. Cr.No.395/2014. Physical features of the missing person was compared with the un-identified dead body

details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Mohanram, SSI. Finally, on 24.08.2014 details of the missing person was matched with an un-identified dead body reported at Sathuvachary PS Cr.No.258/2014 u/s. 174 Cr.PC. iii. 2 Missing Person cases resolved by Public in Tiruvannamalai District:- On 21.02.2014, an un-identified dead body case was reported at Tiruvannamalai District, Tiruvannamalai East PS. Cr.No.90/2014 u/s.174 Cr.PC. The photograph of deceased was uploaded on CCTNS by PDEO Tmt.Vimala, W.Gr.I 1082. After 13 days, on 03.03.2014, the photograph of dead body was identified by the sister of deceased through CCTNS Public Portal. On 02.08.2013, an un-identified dead body case was reported at Tiruvannamalai District, Tiruvannamalai East PS. Cr.No.463/2013 u/s.174 Cr.PC. The photograph of deceased was uploaded on CCTNS by PDEO Tmt.Vimala, W.Gr.I 1082. On 24.08.2014, the photograph of dead body was identified by the son of deceased through CCTNS Public Portal. 2. Missing Person Traced Cases:- i. Missing Person case resolved by Salem City:- On 13.04.2014, an unsound mind man Balamurugan, aged about 20 years was recovered by the Salem City, Annathanapatti PS. His physical feature was compared with the missing person details through CCTNS by PDEO K.Sampathkumar, HC 880. Finally, details of the recovered man was matched with a missing person case reported at

Tiruvannamalai District, Thachampet PS Cr.No.24/14 u/s. Man missing. ii. Missing Person case resolved by Coimbatore District:- On 06.10.2014, a man missing case was reported at Coimbatore District, Thudiyalur PS Cr.No.627/14, u/s. Man missing. The physical features of the missing man details were compared with the un-identified dead body details through CCTNS by PDEO WPC 1850 Tmt. Jothi. Finally, on 10.11.2014, the man missing details were matched with an un-identified dead body reported at Kovilpalayam PS Cr.No.251/14 u/s.174 Cr.PC D.R.06.10.2014. iii. Missing Person case resolved by Erode District:- A man missing case was reported at Erode District, Bangalapudur PS. Cr.No.49/2014. Physical features of the missing person were compared with the Un-identified dead body details through CCTNS by PDEO Gr.I PC 2200 Tr.Dharmavengatesan. On 15.07.2014 the details of the above missing person was matched with an un-identified dead body reported at Gopi PS Cr.No.92/2014 u/s.174 Cr.PC. iv. Missing Person case resolved by Erode District within 5 days:- An unknown person was found in Classic Tower hotel room No:302 in unconscious status. He was recovered by Erode District, Erode Town PS and was admitted in GH, subsequently he died in GH. The photograph of deceased person was uploaded in CCTNS and compared with missing person details by PDEO. On 30.12.2014 the deceased details

were matched with a missing person case reported at Erode South PS Cr.No.629/2014 u/s. Missing man on 25.12.2014. v. Missing Person case resolved by :- An un-identified dead body was recovered by the Virudhunagar District, Srivilliputhur Town PS Cr.No.621/14, U/s.174 Cr.PC D.R.05.11.2014. The physical features of deceased person were compared with missing person details through CCTNS by PDEO Gr.I PC 968 Tr.Kumaravel. As a result, on 06.11.2014 the deceased person was matched with one Missing Person case reported at Sivakasi Town PS.Cr.No.591/14, u/s.Man Missing D/R.29.10.2014. The deceased was identified as Abdul shalam, S/O Shek Davood, Sivakasi. vi. Missing Person case resolved by Thoothukudi District:- On 19.05.2014 a Women missing case was reported at Thoothukudi District, Thoothukudi North PS. The physical feature of missing person was compared with the un- identified dead body details through CCTNS by PDEO Tr.Balasubramaniyan, Gr.II PC 2309. At an instant result, the details of missing person was matched with a un- identified dead body reported at Ettayapuram PS Cr.No.66/2014 u/s. 174 Cr.PC. vii. An inter-district Missing Person case resolved within 2 days by Kanniyakumari District:- On 25.03.2014, an unsound mind girl Nesamathi aged about 17 years was recovered by the Kanniyakumari District, Nagercoil AWPS. Her physical feature was compared with the missing persons details through CCTNS by Police data entry operator Tmt. Meena, SSI, and Tmt.Renu. Finally, the

recovered girl was matched with a missing person case reported at Thoothukudi district, Meignanapuram PS Cr.No. 61/2014 u/s Girl Missing on 23.03.2014.

III. PHENOMENAL INCREASE IN THE PERCENTAGE OF MATCHING OF UN-IDENTIFIED DEAD BODY WITH MISSING PERSONS BY RAILWAY POLICE (2013 & 2014):-

Railway Police have successfully matched 88 cases of Un- identified Dead Bodies with Missing Persons in 2014, whereas only 24 cases were matched in the previous year. This notable increase in matching is due to exclusive training imparted to PDEOs of Railway PS on the use CCTNS / Web portal by the IGP, Railways.

IV. PASSPORT VERIFICATION – ADVERSE HITS AGAINST APPLICANTS: -

The applications for passports were verified in order to provide Police Clearance Certification to the applicant. By using CCTNS, 752 Passport applicants were identified to have been involved in criminal cases. Hence, those 752 applications were rejected for having figured in the criminal records of CCTNS by the SHOs.

V. ANTECEDENT VERIFICATION – ADVERSE HITS AGAINST APPLICANTS: - Many verification rolls for jobs were received at the Police Stations. The antecedents of applicants were verified with the database of CCTNS. As a result, 89 applicants were found to be involved in the criminal case and hence rejected. Interestingly, verification of Youth Brigades was also done and many were rejected on the basis of their involvement in cases. For example, one Youth Brigade Mr.Manikandan, Perur PS, Coimbatore district was rejected on the basis of verification in CPRUS database on 10-03-2014. VI. INTER-STATE UTILITY:- Tracing of Vehicle in a robbery case across the State border – Thane PS, Maharashtra State:- A success story of CCTNS Tamil Nadu reported by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (L&O), Madurai City. On 06- 07-2015, a Sub-Inspector of Police of Thane PS of Maharashtra State has searched for a vehicle detail for Maruti Swift bearing Registration No.TN-02-AB-5711 which was used for a Robbery at Thane. By using TN eservices of CCTNS, traced the vehicle in a matter of seconds that the vehicle was stolen from Kanniyakumari District, Suseendram PS Crime No.490/2015.
