I am very proud of our senior students who attended our annual ball! Students were delightful and turned out in 9 September magnificent formal gowns and suits while still maintaining their individuality. I want to congratulate the senior students who planned and decorated the venue. It was beautiful and our theme of Kiwiana shone through. - Rainbows End Fun Trip Thank you to our Y10 waiters who did a fantastic job on the night, and to Mel, Zoe and the staff at the Night Owl who hosted us and supplied high amounts of kai! It was a fantastic evening and I loved being there. The theme this year was Kiwana. Approximately 100 people turned out to enjoy the night. It was good to see everybody dressed up and looking 10am to 2.30pm - Term only very smart. We had amazing food provided by the Night Owl all night, and were served by our Y10 waiters. [email protected] The Y12 Prince and Princess was Xavier Turner and Shakaya Winikerei and our King and Queen of the ball was TK Ikin and Puhi Ngawaka. We would like to thank the students for their high standard of behavior. We would especially like to thank Melanie Simpson and the whole Night Owl crew for helping to make it a night to remember. School Ball a night to remember ROTARY AWARD RECIPIENTS Each term the Rotary Club rewards a senior student who best meets the Rotary ideas of SERVICE ABOVE SELF and Rotary's 4-WAY TEST. Congratulations to Term 1 winner Brayden Burnell for his service to the community through the St John Youth Programme and for being a good citizen who cares for others first. Congratulations to Term 2 winner Jessica Schrafft for her service to the community through SADD, Youth Council, Board of Trustees student rep, and being a Police Rainbows End fun trip helper. Each winner receives a $100 Paper Plus voucher. MAHOENUI PIG HUNT This year is the 10th Mahoenui Pig Hunt, and it will be held on Saturday 9 September. Heaps of prizes are up for grabs in the kids critters category. Anyone can enter the main draw and there are spot prizes worth $1000's. More details on the Mahoenui Hall facebook page. REMINDER - NZQA FEES ARE DUE These are now due and must be paid for this year’s results to appear on student’s official Record of Achievement, and to receive certificates. Single Student $76.60. If you have a low income or Community Services card and bring that in to school as evidence, then the fee is reduced to $20 per student. No family with 2 or more fee paying students in the same family will pay more than the maximum fee of $200. These fees must be paid to the College by 10 September to allow processing and payment to NZQA. After that date you will have to pay your fees directly to NZQA. Any late fees paid after 1 December will incur a late fee of $50 – also payable directly to NZQA. Please contact our finance officer Nikki Thomas if you have any queries or concerns regarding fees. (Nikki’s Contact: Phone 8778 173 Ext 202) PRIZE GIVING — RECALLING TROPHIES Its that time of year when preparations for prize giving begin. We are asking all trophy holders from last year (2016) to please return their trophies to the office as soon as possible. ATTENDANCE At Piopio College we value attendance. By law you are required to let your school know if your child is absent or late. Please remind your children to sign in at the office before they go to class if they are arriving late. PIOPIO CHARITABLE TRUST APPLICATIONS Piopio Community & District Charitable Trust is now accepting applications from individuals and groups wanting to undertake charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational work for the benefit of the district. Areas include Piopio township, Mairoa, Mangaotaki, Mahoenui, Aria, Mokauiti, Mapiu, Kopaki, Benneydale, Oparure, Rangitoto, Mokau and Awakino. Te Kuiti Borough is not included. Applications are available on www.piopio.net.nz. Applications close 5pm, 31 August 2017. Late applications will not be accepted. UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND OPEN DAY The University of Auckland are holding Courses and a Careers Open day on Saturday, 2 September 2017 from 9am to 3.30pm.
