Students were delightful and turned out in 9 September magnificent formal gowns and suits while still maintaining their individuality. I want to congratulate the senior students who planned and decorated the venue. It was beautiful and our theme of Kiwiana shone through. - Rainbows End Fun Trip Thank you to our Y10 waiters who did a fantastic job on the night, and to Mel, Zoe and the staff at the Night Owl who hosted us and supplied high amounts of kai! It was a fantastic evening and I loved being there. Each winner receives a $100 Paper Plus voucher. MAHOENUI PIG HUNT This year is the 10th Mahoenui Pig Hunt, and it will be held on Saturday 9 September. REMINDER - NZQA FEES ARE DUE These are now due and must be paid for this year’s results to appear on student’s official Record of Achievement, and to receive certificates. Single Student $76.60. If you have a low income or Community Services card and bring that in to school as evidence, then the fee is reduced to $20 per student. No family with 2 or more fee paying students in the same family will pay more than the maximum fee of $200. These fees must be paid to the College by 10 September to allow processing and payment to NZQA. After that date you will have to pay your fees directly to NZQA. Any late fees paid after 1 December will incur a late fee of $50 – also payable directly to NZQA. Please contact our finance officer Nikki Thomas if you have any queries or concerns regarding fees. Areas include Piopio township, Mairoa, Mangaotaki, Mahoenui, Aria, Mokauiti, Mapiu, Kopaki, Benneydale, Oparure, Rangitoto, Mokau and Awakino. Te Kuiti Borough is not included.     Ministry Bulletin for SCHOOL LEADERS He Pitopito Kōrero ISSUE No. 121 | 2019 DECEMBER 2 In this issue Message from Iona Holsted Kia ora koutou katoa This is the final School Bulletin of the year and I wanted to reflect on some of the work that has been done or is underway. Many of you have told me directly, or through your representatives, that it feels like there is a lot of change going on. I know that there is always change at school and kāhui ako level as teachers and others work together to strengthen professional practice and pedagogy. This is a strength of our system; self- evaluation and ongoing improvement. Thank you. In the past couple of years the Ministry has been leading the Education Work Programme and that will have felt like even more change. So far there has been a lot of discussion and policy formulation and we will be working with you to implement key aspects of the work programme, over time, and with regard to the busy environment we all work in. Each part of the Work Programme is important in its own right, but it is also a connected whole and to help describe this we developed the Education Work Programme “wheel”. I find this a useful tool for keeping an eye on the big picture and also seeing where individual parts of the work are up to. You can see the latest version of the wheel here [PDF]. Please note, I am deliberately using the term “latest” here, because things do change and the picture is never static! My thanks to all of you for the work that you do to support effective teaching and learning for your school community, and a particular thanks to those of you who have contributed to the long term system wide change that the Education Work Programme is defining.

Staff are in the middle of report - Eddie Alcock Netball writing and marking assessments, we hope to get the reports out in the first week of Tournament, Te Kuiti Term Three. We will also be including a little survey for you to complete as we seek 28 June (Thur) feedback on the format of the reports, so please take a few minutes to complete the - Waikato Secondary Schools survey and return it to us via the reception. We appreciate any constructive feedback Squash Boys’ Team as we strive to improve our communication and systems. Tournament - Rural Schools Science Fair A big thank you to all of those who attended our community consultation evening last 5 July (Thur) night, we hope you found the evening informative, as we also appreciated your - Year 7 New Plymouth Trip willingness to share your aspirations and thoughts. We do intend doing something 6 July (Fri) similar again later this year. - Matariki Celebration 10.15am - Last day of Term 2 We are currently experiencing a national shortage of relief teachers and reader/ writers.
