    Buddy Miller’s Majestic Silver Strings New West Records Buddy Miller, named Artist of the Decade by No Depression Magazine, teamed up with esteemed guitarists Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz to create The Majestic Silver Strings, a monumental musical experience to be released on CD, with bonus DVD, March 1, 2011 via New West Records. The Majestic Silver Strings, produced by Buddy, is his re-imagination of country songs, loaded with guitars, atmosphere and attitude. Guest vocalists on the album include Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Lee Ann Womack, Chocolate Genius, Ann McCrary and Julie Miller. Rounding out the band are Dennis Crouch on bass and Jay Bellerose on drums. The Majestic Silver Strings and the album’s guests are among the most well respected and in-demand current musicians. Making a record of this caliber was a dream and took luck of scheduling to make come true. A bonus DVD with concert footage of the first, and only performance to date with Buddy, Marc, Bill and Greg playing the tracks selected for this project, will be included with the CD. The musicians re-interpret classic country songs written by some of the most esteemed songwriters including Lefty Frizzell, Roger Miller and George Jones, whose hit “Why Baby Why” is sung by Buddy on the record. The band also tackles a few traditional compositions and several new songs including “God’s Wing’d Horse” written by Julie Miller and Bill Frisell. Many projects boast one guest vocalist; Buddy has six revered friends lending their voices to the recording including Emmylou Harris on “Why I’m Walkin’” and Lee Ann Womack on “Meds.” Buddy also does a duet of “I Want To Be With You Always” with Patty Griffin.

Love While bluegrass music has been a topic of conversation within the discipline of Appalachian Studies, research concerning the emergence of the community in cyberspace is relatively rare. Appalachian music’s role as a transnational facilitator is groundbreaking in areas of social networking, and as a member of the bluegrass community, I am fascinated by the communication that results now that members of that community can connect to friends in Europe, Japan, and France as easily as to next door neighbors. Noting that music is what brings these individuals together, this study addresses ways in which the bluegrass community embodies an imagined community and uses political language to gather in cyberspace. The study is not meant to discredit the direct ties the music has to Appalachia, but rather to applaud and understand the work of enthusiasts in the field who have found ways to mobilize the music through the Internet.

CBS had to do some scrambling if it was to continue publishing the CBS bi- monthly magazine, The Holler. That is why you haven't received a Holler for several months. Former CBS President Chick Cavallero is the new Editor and will be using a different format than ISSUU which we had been using in the past.     Steve Earle & The Dukes’ J.T., Set For January 4, 2021 Release Via New West Records November 18, 2020 (Los Angeles, CA) – On the forthcoming album, J.T., Steve Earle & The Dukes pay tribute to Steve’s late son, Justin Townes Earle (J.T.), who passed away on August 20, 2020 in Nashville. The album will be released digitally on what would have been Justin’s 39th birthday, January 4, 2021, via New West Records. “The record is called J.T. because Justin was never called anything else until he was nearly grown. Well, when he was little, I called him Cowboy,” explains Steve Earle. “For better or worse, right or wrong, I loved Justin Townes Earle more than anything else on this earth. That being said, I made this record, like every other record I’ve ever made... for me. It was the only way I knew to say goodbye.” Today, as the album pre-order launched, Steve shared the track “Harlem River Blues.” Listen HERE. Fans who pre-order J.T. in digital format will instantly receive “Harlem River Blues.” The CD and vinyl editions of the album will follow on March 19, 2021.
