TC9.12 MEETING MINUTES June24, 2008 PAGE 2 TC – 9.12; Tall Building Systems
Meeting Minutes June 24, 2008 Salt Lake City
The meeting was called to order by the chair, Tom Kroeschell at 3:45 PM.
A. Alan Vinh – NIST –NIST is interested in emergency response and attended to advise 9.12 on their work. They are working on a project to communicate building information and have prototyped a system to perform this function. They are working on this with a number of organizations to develop a common language to interface between multiple networks among multiple manufacturers. The goal is also to produce a common reporting format which will communicate with any particular fire alarm or BAS manufacturer in that particular building. The responders would then see a common system and reporting format in any building to which they respond.
B. Minutes from New York 2008 were Approved as submitted.
C. Chairman Comments
1. No Report
B. Research (Werman)
1. RTAR for Air Infiltration in High rise buildings (Gill & Sinclair). Mark Fly distributed a work statement for a similar project. #1478 by TC-4.3 and 9.12 will co sponsor.
2. Measurement of differential pressures inside and outside of high rise buildings at various heights. Lynn will work with Duncan Phillips to try to put together an RTAR. Due August 15, 2008. Motion Gill, second Wessel to co-sponsor this with research with TC-4.3. Approved.
3. The High Rise design guide was done for Commercial buildings. Perhaps we should consider a design guide for mixed use or retail or residential. Harvey Brickman will work on an RTAR.
