TAXIMETER CORRECTIONS

It has come to the Council’s attention that there is an issue with taximeters installed by one of the Installation Engineers namely N & J Pitt Taximeter Services Ltd, as follows:

The tariff 2 (and presumably tariff 4) facility is engaging automatically at change over time irrespective of a journey having commenced prior to that time on the lower tariff. All journeys commenced prior to change over time should remain on the lower tariff until completed, at which time the higher tariff would then engage.

The same should be true at the change over time at the end of the tariff 2 & 4 period.

The tariff card issued to each Hackney Carriage vehicle clearly states : -

‘Tariff 2 & 4 applies ONLY for hirings begun’ Between 11pm and 7am on any day. Between 7am and 11pm on Sundays. Between 7am and 11pm on Statutory Bank Holidays & Public Holidays. Between 8pm and 11pm on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

The same would apply to tariff 5 & 6. These enhanced tariffs should not automatically change over at 0600hrs on Christmas Day and New Years Day for a journey commenced prior to that time, and conversely should not end early at 0600hrs on Boxing Day and January 2nd.

If the above is relevent to the taximeter installed in your vehicle, it is a requirement of Charnwood Borough Council that the vehicle’s taximeter be re-programmed to operate in the approved manner with immediate effect.

Following a meeting with members of the Taxi Association, it has been arranged that N & J Pitt Taxi Meter Services Ltd will come over to Weldon Road (off Bishop Meadow Road), Loughborough on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 between the hours of 10:00am and 14:00pm to re-programme the taximeters.

The Council has been assured that this will be free of charge.

Checks will be carried out by Licensing Enforcement Officers and appropriate action will be taken against Proprietors/Drivers who do not comply with the instruction.
