SLINFOLD CE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PRE-SCHOOL Caring, Learning, Achieving…guided by God

H E A D T E A C H E R : Miss Laura Phibbs, BA(Hons), PGCE

Friday 9th September 2016 Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a new term at Slinfold. I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday and now feel refreshed and ready to start a new term. It’s great to be back and I am really looking forward to the term ahead. Welcome to all the new children in Reception and to all their parents and carers and also to some new children in other years; Charlie in year 5 and Luca in year 1. We hope you all feel welcome at Slinfold and enjoy being part of the Slinfold community.

This half term our Christian Value is ‘Respect and Reverence’. The children will be looking at how they can show respect for each other and adults in the school community and how they respect and value their own and other people’s belongings. They will also learn about how Christians respect God’s greatness and acknowledge how the world was created. Aspects of awe and wonder, surrender and sacrifice may also be covered in class.

Big Friendly read Summer Reading Challenge – Message from Natalie (The Children’s Librarian) I would like to say how lovely it has been welcoming so many children to our libraries over the summer holidays. Both Horsham and Southwater have been very busy and we’ve all had lots of fun! So many children did so well to reach the six book target and receive their medals. Children have until Saturday 17 September to collect their Big Friendly Read medal from their local library if they haven’t done so already. Hope to see you again at the library soon! Clerk to Governors Vacancy We have a vacancy for a Clerk to the Governors. The Clerk to the Governors role is a paid position with a commitment of approximately 30-35 hours per term. For more information please contact the Chair of Governors, Beth Brown, on [email protected]
