AIESEC INTERNSHIPS IN CHINA, BANGLADESH AND GHANA

Internship opportunities AIESEC (www.aiesec.org) is a global organisation for leadership Huiling Community Services for development and Norway currently has a project in cooperation with Disabled People Fredskorpset, together with China, Bangladesh and Ghana. In week 29-32 we have a preparation course and the 9 month internship then starts in the Animal Rescue Beijing middle of August. Huiling Community Services for Disabled People

Huiling Community Services for Disabled People is a successful NGO with a long history and has great impact across the country. It provides support to orphans and disabled people. The NGO also aims at improving general public's awareness of relevant social issue. The intern is to help the community's disabled people, provide cultural interaction and develop the social work skills of their own at the same time. There are also 12 orphans living in this organization. You are supposed to spend time with them, delivering cultural presentations and teach them basic English as well. The intern is going to work in the community to raise the public's attention to this social issue and therefore generate more resources for the community. Meanwhile, it's possible and appreciates if the intern can initiate and implement any relevant program/activities based on his/her interest and capacity. A good level of Chinese is preferred but you can also get some financial support for attending Chinese classes.

Animal Rescue Beijing

Animal Rescue Beijing (ARB) is a non-profit animal welfare NGO officially registered at the Chinese government. The aims of ARB include promoting the harmonious survival and coordinated development of human beings and animals, maintaining the animals’ rights for survival, cultivating the social habit of “respect life and love animal”, and upholding the rights and interests of the animal protectors. As an intern at ARB, it would be your task to do social research. Follow the team to visit Province Hebei, visit the aquatic breeding farm to have a deep understanding towards ill-treating of animals and then write a report. Communicate with young people from universities and experts about animal protection by holding forum or event. Do a project which offers advice to livestock veterinarians by holding an event, accumulating material abroad and creating a participating forum. Design and organize a project about fund raising. Do marketing planning for the agencies, and to establish links at home and abroad, while maintaining close ties with the community to enhance cooperation and exchanges. Follow the team to visit and give public education to universities, colleges and communities in Beijing, bringing common sense and ideas about animals’ protection. A basic level of Chinese is preferred but you can also get some financial support for attending Chinese classes.

AIDS Prevention Project for Chinese Youth

APEPCY, set to run for five years, aims to raise 100 million RMB to carry out special educational activities for AIDS prevention at 10,000 universities and colleges, vocational schools and secondary schools. Within three to five years, knowledge of AIDS prevention, sexual morals and health will be imparted to youth via film, video, and lessons, to prevent them from being the next victims in an AIDS epidemic. The intern will participate in outreach programs and will be working to improve general public’s awareness of HIV/AIDS issues. Intern will also create programs and act as a consultant on existing programs, offering strategies and solutions. In addition, he or she will also act as an ambassador, establishing relationships with other NGOs and the government, seeking and cooperation, while promoting the NGO to enhance its influence in society. A basic level of Chinese is preferred but you can also get some financial support for attending Chinese classes. Knowledge in web development and graphics is asked for.
