FELLOWSHIP

STEVE HOLMAN asked all those who have NOT led singing portion of the meeting to put $1.00 on the table and all the rest to put $1.00 on the table because it was Monday. That is one way to raise money for the boot! PROGRAM

PRESIDENT WILSON introduced David Snyders, Stephenson County Sheriff. Sheriff Snyders reviewed the Concealed Carry law as it currently stands in Illinois. Those applying for a Concealed Carry Permit must pay $150 and be fingerprinted. They may apply for the permit after January 15, 2014. To receive the permit, the applicant must take and pass a 16 hour course that includes live firing at a range. The permit is good for 5 years. Out of state resident must pay $300 for a permit to carry concealed in Illinois even if they have a permit from another state.

Sheriff Snyders also reviewed places where it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm. These places include bars (50% alcohol business), school property, and churches. Several questions were raised about transporting a firearm or gun. Even a “hypothetical” scenario was discussed to the amusement of all.

Thank you to Sheriff Snyders for his interesting and relevant presentation!
