Members Present: Erika Schroeder, Liz Fagan, Linda Miller, Leslie Smith, Sandra Schaefer, Nonniekaye Shelburne, Kate Castro, Alice Beers and Marie Abbazio Minutes recorded by: Liz Fagan & Alice Beers Meeting convened at 5:30 pm; adjourned at 6:15 pm.

Topic Discussion Bring Forward Review minutes from June board Due to limited time to conduct Review June minutes & retreat business, minutes review strategic plan at next board deferred until next meeting by meeting. Linda Miller.

Nominating Committee Leslie was unsuccessful in her Call for nominations required. Linda for Jean Lynn initial approach to a colleague We will put this on the VC? regarding the president elect position but agreed to re- address. Treasurer’s report Marie reports there is $100.00 remaining in the NIH Marie Abbazio approximately $15,000.00 in account; Marie plans to the treasury & provided a withdraw this in the immediate written report to Linda. She future to close the account. has opened two checking accounts at Sun Trust Bank; one associated with a new PayPal account (to have limited funds) & one for the bulk of the chapter funds. Marie reports Sun Trust recommended the second account for PayPal as a safe guard to the majority of the chapter funds. The account signatories are Marie, Liz Fagan & Leslie (Programs). Two debit cards are associated with the main account for Leslie (Programs) & Marie. Leslie and Nonniekaye will have viewing access only to the PayPal account and Marie will have administrative rights to the PayPal account. Membership Current membership: 48. Due Sandra Schaefer to the new National membership changes Nonniekaye moved to eliminate chapter two-year memberships; second by Liz Fagan, vote of 5-0 approved. Programs committee Program with Sandra Swain Leslie will send out the Leslie Smith set for Jan 9. Bistro Bistro is contract for review/approval the only venue that has by the board responded to date. 2013 Congress Update Six area chapters will be Initial conference call Nonniekaye Shelburne participating: PAON, No. VA, pending. Mid-Chesapeake, Richmond, Baltimore & WDC

Educational Courses The Lister Hill Auditorium is Kate will obtain mailing labels Kate Castro reserved for Friday, Dec 14 for from the Washington the Caring for the Older Adult Geriatric Consortium With Cancer program. Nonniekaye is the trainer; cost will be $100.00. Assistance may be needed with mailing & program registration. No contact response at GW for Chemotherapy Biotherapy course facilities; program cancelled for this fall.

Other/New Business Linda motioned to send a Marie Abbazio to send Members $100.00 donation to the Anne donation to AA Breast Center. Arundel Breast Center in memory of past president Sue O’Connor; second by Kate Castro, unanimous vote. Linda moved to replace Fall Advertise scholarships on the educational award with an VC & next newsletter additional Spring award for Congress. Marie motioned for three Congress registration awards; second by Liz, unanimous vote.
