COUNSELOR APPLICATION

The Gonzaga University Summer “BRIDGE” Pre-Orientation program is designed to encourage incoming students to become better acquainted with the environment where they will pursue their academic career through first hand interactions with upperclassmen and campus resources. BRIDGE Counselors are peer led and supervised by UMEC’s Social Justice Outreach Program Coordinator and BRIDGE Coordinators (B-Core). Requirements . Be a current Gonzaga student in good academic and disciplinary standing . Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA . Be a sophomore, junior or senior during the BRIDGE program . Have strong interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and teamwork skills . Demonstrate ability to communicate and work well with others . Have a sincere concern for the well-being of intercultural/multicultural students . Willingness to participate in a paraprofessional training program, focusing on leadership, character, community building, and mentorship . Willingness to devote 4-8 hours per month to meet with members of your first-year cohort as part of the mentorship program embedded within the BRIDGE mission for outreach and retention. . Ability to work with limited supervision . Time commitment of around 10-12 hours per day during the BRIDGE Program with overnight stay Benefits . Development of intercultural communication, mentoring, and leadership skills . Satisfaction of helping develop the foundations of an intercultural community at Gonzaga and in the Spokane community . Application Calendar . Application DUE in the Unity Multicultural Education Center (UMEC) February 10, 2017 by 12 pm . Interviews will occur from Feb. 15 through Feb 17, between the hours of 9 am - 5 pm . Notifications will occur by Feb 22, 2016
