Minutes Minutes Review of February 11, 2013 minutes Treasurer’s report: February ending balance: $6,666.73 Deposits: $8,923.11 Payments: $6,588.00 Current Ending Balance $9,001.84 Old Business: 1. Discount Card Fundraiser—results Preliminary results-A total of 677 cards were sold which averaged 2.624 cards per student. The estimated total for PTO is $3,385.00. Major Saver advised that they would like an additional week before closing the fund-raiser. After the closing, plans will begin for the limo ride/pizza party.

2. State Assessment t-shirts-any comments Mark Lamb advised that everyone was appreciative of the t-shirts.

3. Grandparent t-shirts-any comments Jeanette advised that there were a number of shirts remaining. The grandparent and parent t-shirts will be available throughout the year in the concession stand. At this point in time, we will not need to order shirts for the 2014 grandparent’s day.

4. Book fair-any comments Karen advised that there is one check remaining that will need to be written on behalf of the book fair.

5. Forensic meet-any comments John and Jeanette report that the concession went well.

6. Middle School Knowledge bowl-any comments Mark Lamb reported that several appreciative comments were made from both our staff/parents and visiting staff/parents for the “snack packs” that PTO provided for the participants. The “snack packs” included assorted drinks, candy bars, airheads, and peanut butter crackers.

7. Shrine circus snacks-any comments Mark Lamb reported that the Shrine Circus trip went well and that the snacks of granola bars and juice boxes were very much appreciative. A “thank you” was received from staff and students for the snacks.

New Business:  Spring Grants By general consensus of the committee, 2-$150.00 grants will be made available to teachers/staff. This will be a grant process. All interested teachers/staff need to submit a written request to Bonnie Johnson. Bonnie volunteered to email the announcement.

 Sports workers/referee snacks After discussion, Jeanette will develop an invoice for sport event workers/referee snacks from the football and basketball season.  3-6 Concert/Community Night No requests to take action on. Upcoming events: April  April 13 Spring Carnival (time 3:00pm- 6:00pm) Heidi has scheduled a planning meeting for Thursday, March 12th @ 6:30pm in the commons area.

 April 16 PreK-2 Concert/Community Night No requests to take action on.

 April 20 Prom/After Prom PTO is providing $1,500.00 in funding for After Prom (approved in an earlier meeting). The After Prom committee has requested $700.00 for down payment for games from Kansas Rental. A balance of $800.00 remains for payment to After Prom.

 April 24 MS Band Festival at Home (order pop and bill at PTO costs) John & Jeanette are working with Karla Lero regarding this request.

 April 28 Added to schedule: Susan Grey advised that a high school cook-out is being planned in celebration of completion of state assessments. After discussion, PTO volunteered to provide hot dogs & hamburger for the cook-out.

 Date to be determined Susan Grey advised that planning has begun for a high school breakfast to acknowledge students for their accomplishments. More information will be provided at the April PTO meeting. May  May 1 7-12 Concert After discussion, PTO will provide popcorn (and water) for this event. Jeanette & Blake will set the popcorn machine up in the shelter house and serve popcorn.

 May 3 History Day By general consensus, the committee approved $250.00 funding for the event.

 Week of May 6 Teacher Appreciation Week After discussion, PTO will have a meal catered for teachers and staff on Tuesday, May 7th. Suggestions for lunch included: sub sandwich, soup and/or salad. Lunch will be placed in the elementary resource room, broiler room and high school resource room. . Jeanette will coordinate. It was also suggested that some type of raffle/activity be coordinated that could get the teachers and students involved. Discussion was tabled until next meeting.

 May 10 AR Store PTO approved funding of $300.00 for the AR store (approved in a previous meeting).

 May 10 Play Day PTO will provide bomb pops for Play Day (approved in a previous meeting).

 May 12 HS Graduation After discussion, PTO will provide a $10.00 Chamber Bucks gift certificate to each senior. Karen will coordinate.

 Week of May 13 HS Baseball Regionals No requests at this time to take action on.

 May 14 8th Grade Promotion After discussion, PTO will provide a $5.00 Chamber Bucks gift certificate to each 8th grader. Karen will coordinate.
