Degree requirement 42 credits COURSE WAIVER AND TRANSFER CREDIT Course substitutions/waivers for a required course may be granted if a student can prove proficiency with the content. Students who are granted waivers must take elective courses to replace the credits from which they have been waived. A course waiver does not result in an award of credit. Graduate students may request transfer of not more than nine graduate credits. Courses will be considered for transfer if the student has received a grade of B or better. If approved, the transfer course and credit, but not the grade, will be recorded on the student’s academic record. Credit received for courses completed more than ten years prior to a student’s admission to his or her current degree program are not acceptable for transfer. See the program chair for details. TIME LIMIT Students have five years from the start of their first course to complete all the requirements for the M.S. degree. A student may petition for an extension beyond this limit in the case of significant extenuating circumstances. INTERNSHIPS Full-time students without relevant experience in their field of study or planning a mid-career change are required to undertake a non-credit internship during the summer between their first and second years of study. Before accepting an internship position, each student must have her/his assignment approved. Internship approval forms are available through the Milano Career Development and Placement Office.
