St. Margaret Mary PTO Meeting Minutes

Call to Order at 6:03 p.m.
Meeting opened with Our Father prayer
Recommended Actions
Acceptance of Agenda, Sheree Heaphy motioned, Stephanie Miller seconded.
New Business
Dates of meetings sent out by Erin Reed. There are four committee meetings-someone from each committee needs to be at these meetings.
Budget spending ideas - The total cost for replacing computer lab at end of 2014/15 school year was $17,377.19. It was discussed to have a parent survey soliciting ideas, no more than 4-5 questions, looking for feedback. There was a Technology report created over the summer. What would they like to see for Technology.
New Teacher Stipend – There are seven new teachers. Each will get $400. Returning teachers receive $200.
Open Committee /Board positions – Ann Varga is taking over raffle for Fall festival. Still need someone for Neighborhood baskets and Outside games for Fall Festival. Treasurer Elect assistant and Box tops/Soup labels still needed. Mara Legere suggested that Catholic Schools Week have its own committee.
Publicity Guidelines – It was reported by Stephanie Miller that items for newsletter need to be to Angela Springer by Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. – no exceptions. This also goes for anything going in the Friday folder. E-mail blasts go out on Tuesday and Thursday. Stephanie Miller will be the PTO contact for posters for bulletin board, save the dates.
8/12 New Parent Orientation – Laura Rittmuller would like some volunteers to help out.
8/17 Orientation – Used uniforms and Kroger cards will have booths set up in PAC. Uniforms could use some extra coverage so they can go to Orientation as well. Spirit wear will be setting up a store.
8/19 Coffee & Tissues – Flyers are being given to Kindergarten to give out to new Parents. Susan Cortes could use some volunteers from 7:45-8:15.
8/27 Open House and PTO meeting – Dawn Morrison will be running the meeting and give Treasurer’s report.
Crossing Guard coverage – We have coverage every morning and Thursday and Friday afternoon. LMPD is changing the Sheriff’s dept. schedules which leaves Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons open from 2:40-3:15. In order for service to hire someone for us, there is a 2 hour minimum at $50 per hour. Corrections officers are 3 hour minimum at $35 per hour but do not have lights on their cars.
Committee Updates
Kroger cards- there will be a re-enrollment process.
Grandparents Day- This will be held on Tuesday, September 8. Invitations will go out in Friday folder on August 21. There will be a Prayer service. RSVP’s should be in by August 28.
Fall Festival – Neighborhood baskets still needs volunteer. It was decided to have Grade baskets rather than each classroom. Kim Brown will handle Teacher auctions. Jody Carr is in charge of the food. Outdoor events is also still open. It was discussed that the Gala might be a better venue for the pottery.
Gala – The date for Gala has been set for March 5, 2016. Shannon Byrne needs Committee members for this event.
Spirit Wear – Andrea Gohmann and Maria Gunnell reported that they are working with a new vendor, All Pro Championships and have several new designs. They will be setting up a store At Fall Festival.
Noodles & Co. – Stephanie Miller is contact. Would like to do a spirit night every other month. Room Parents – Mara Lagere reported that they were in good shape, pending class lists. Christy McGrath will coordinate Dine & Dash. Brooke Vernon will coordinate volunteers for Fall Festival. There are 22 volunteers for Jr. High, would like to pool and have one coordinate.
Used Uniforms – Kelly Shanks is no longer at SMM. Emily Hartlage will take over her position to help Holly Ryan. Had a sale after Mass in June and made $1,683. Set up again for Mock Kindergarten and made $582. Will do another collection in December and have another sale in January or February.
Treasurer’s Report
Kristin Vetrano reported that we spent $13,000 from Fund the Mission and still have $959.50 left. Will check with Amy Burch to see if she needs any additional items. Accrued money for Outdoor Classroom. iPad cart and iPads have been ordered. This will be the 4th cart that PTO has provided. There is a new fee that has been assessed by the Archdiocese in the amount of $1500.00 to be used for the grade school tuition assistance fund.
Principal’s Report
Ellen Martin reported that Basketball goals have been approved and she will be ordering. Box top money will be used to order playground equipment.
Teacher’s Report
Donna Laemmle is the representative for teachers now. She reported that Jen Imorde, Brandon Holbrook and herself attended a conference and are going to incorporate God’s Play. They are going to pilot in Kindergarten. There are different kits for Bible stories. Erin will contact Brandon to have her make a request for the PTO to help purchase kits.
