As you go back in time, this is the year the tournament set-ups start to go crazy. They were making advances...by putting entire counties in the same districts…but the groupings of districts into regions was still in the formative stage.

There was no 10th Region Tournament before 1932 .

From 1928-1931, there were just 8 Regions, but 16 teams at the state tournament. Each Region winner and Region runner-up (an "A" and a "B") advanced to state...where they were again segregated by size through the semi-finals. Then an overall-all state champion was crowned Saturday night.

In 1927, the state was divided into "Districts" and “Regions” for the first time. There were 6 Regions...and 12 teams in the state tournament. Like the following four years, each Region winner and Region runner-up advanced to state...where they were segregated by "A" and "B" through the semi-finals...and a state champion was crowned Saturday night. ------From 1921-1926, there was just one state tournament preliminary...called a “District” or "Sectional." It was the fore-runner of what we now call the "Region." There were 10 of them across the state in 1921 and then 16-18 such tourneys from 1922-26. ------

Prior to 1921, regular-season games were all you had...unless...your team got an invitation to play in the state tournament. There were no District, Region, or Sectional meets leading up to it.
