Planning Council Meeting

PLANNING COUNCIL MEETING November 10, 2010

Staff Resources:

I. Introduction: Angela Falconetti opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.

II. Enrollment Update: Tom LoBasso presented an update on College enrollment, which included post-secondary headcount, FTE, changes in enrollment, and campus representation. He stated there are more returning students than new students attending the College.

III. Committee Reports:

a. Administrative Unit Review – Jennifer Campbell/Katrina Bell/Ken Matthews The Administrative Unit Review Committee is awaiting the reviews of sixteen units, which are due this week.

b. College Life – LeeAnn Davis/Harun Thomas The College Life Committee has held two meetings and is reviewing proposals.

c. Enrollment Development – Bruce Cook/Dick Pastor No report given at this time.

d. Faculty and Staff Development – James Greene/Rita Quinton/Harry Russo The Faculty and Staff Development Committee is reviewing tuition reimbursement and SPD funding guidelines.

e. Institutional Advancement – Gabriel Gomez/Judy Haydt The Institutional Advancement Committee is reviewing last year’s proposals and considering the need to communicate college-wide events to the College.

f. Institutional Technology – Roberto Lombardo/Anindya Paul The Institutional Technology Committee met last week and is looking into developing training for technology literacy and also into merging e-mail systems.

g. Instructional Program Review – Jim Backer/Rhodella Brown/Nick Petropouleas The Instructional Program Review Committee held two meetings thus far. The Committee conducted instructional training on how to effectively complete the IPR form. Program Reviews for thirty-six units are due November 19, 2010. h. Operational Effectiveness and Accountability – Susan Antillon/Kristy Presswood The Operational Effectiveness and Accountability Committee held three meetings thus far and is reviewing the Core Performance Indicators and survey results to identify what areas may need attention. The Committee is developing proposals to present at the January Planning Council Meeting.

h.i. Strategic Planning and Assessment – Nancy Morgan/Dustin Weeks The Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee met with IT to look into planning software including SACS initiatives.

j. Teaching and Learning – Evan Rivers/Mike Vitale The Teaching and Learning Committee had their first meeting last week and is awaiting a report from a subcommittee to develop a plan to institutionalize a study abroad program. The Committee is also looking into the graduation requirement for the PSAV program.

IV. Business/Conclusions Angie Falconetti announced that Susan Antillon will co-chair the Council while she is on leave, and asked the members to continue to develop proposals and new initiatives to move the College forward. Nancy Morgan reminded the Council there is no December meeting and the next Planning Council Co-Chairs meeting is January 19, 2011, and the next Planning Council meeting is January 26, 2011.
