University of Arizona Field Trip

Biosphere 2 is located north of Tucson University of Arizona Field at the base of the stunning Santa Catalina Mountains. This one-of-a-kind Trip facility sits on a ridge at a cool elevation of nearly 4000 feet and is Biosphere 2 Tour surrounded by a magnificent natural desert preserve. We will tour the remarkable Biosphere 2 which Time Thursday, March 28, 2012 Life Books recently named one of the 50 must see "Wonders of the World". Visitors from around the globe journey here for this unique adventure not found anywhere else. We will discover real-time research on the future of our planet as it unfolds in the specially designed mini-world. Your entry into Biosphere 2 is led by an interpretive specialist who takes you inside and under-the-glass. The beautiful trail system takes you on a once in a lifetime tour that lets you smell our ocean and see a tropical Rainforest up close. In addition to escorting you through the upper Biomes, your interpretive specialist takes you through the basement “technosphere” and into the amazing lungs that helped moderate air pressure in the sealed environment in the past. Your tour will conclude in the custom-built underwater ocean viewing gallery where you can explore the million- gallon ocean and its real coral reef. http://www.b2science.org/

10:00 a.m. Arrive Biosphere – Bus will park by actual biosphere not by visitor center so folks do not have to walk so far

10:30-12:00 Biosphere Tour for those okay for the longer tour 10:30-11:15 Tour of Biosphere for those needing a shorter version – lots of things to see in the main Biosphere area while waiting for the others to complete the longer tour; tour guide(s) will continue to answer questions

12:00 Lunch in Biosphere - lower level

2:00 Depart for Phoenix Note: Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes **** pls note that the Biosphere is NOT wheel chair accessible
