How to Run a Great Capernaum Club Seminar – Talks

Some Key Ideas for Talks: - Try to keep it as short as possible o 7-10 minutes is always a good time frame to shoot for - Keep it SIMPLE o One key point or one thing for kids to take away - Verbal communication is not the only way you can give a talk o Visual illustrations o Kids acting out the scene - Interaction with kids is HUGE o Ask open ended questions o Ask questions to them throughout the talk so that they can follow along o Always make it applicable to their life - Participatory talks o Allows kids to connect one thing to another

Example Club Talk

Intro and Recap: - Life, Love, God - God created us in His image, God is powerful, God wants to help us

Questions: - What are some things that we need to eat everyday? What about things that we may need to live? - What are some other things that you or other people say that they need in life? - Why do you think we need these things? - Do these things always satisfy? Do they always make us feel good, or can they sometimes make us feel bad?

We NEED Jesus in our lives (Main Point)… - We are going to talk about a story when Jesus is exactly what a particular woman needed - I believe that we all really NEED Jesus

Mark 5:24-26 - Woman is in bad shape - She had turned to everything else and nothing helped o Friends, doctors, medicine, etc

Have a girl with a red towel wrapped around her shoulders. Have someone be Jesus and have a bunch of other kids around him who are the crowd. Let the kids act out the scene as I talk about it. Mark 5:27-29 - Woman had heard about Jesus and realized this is her last chance o Takes a risk by going into the crowd - Jesus heals her and she just touched the edge of his cloak

Mark 5:30-32 - Jesus knows something has happened o He forces her to step us and come before Him

Mark 5:33-34 - Jesus heals her and changes her life forever

Ask questions about visual acting experience…Make sure to refer back to the scene that just took place.

Main Point and Closing: Just like this woman, we NEED Jesus in our lives.
