Celebrate a Quarter century with WSA this June

Sarawaptopolis Conference Saratoga Hot Springs Resort June 8-9

A short history lesson…

WSA, an informal collaboration of school leaders began 25 years ago when a few Superintendents, Business Managers and Principals gathered in the Wapiti Valley just outside of Yellowstone for professional development, networking and relaxing after another school year. Eventually, the planning and hosting each year was passed from association to association. A few years back we decided to move from Wapiti and have been in Saratoga and Thermopolis. Thus the long name. This year WASSP, the secondary principals, are hosting at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort. As the Executive Director of WASSP, I may be the “last man standing” unless someone out there has been going to WSA since forever. So come celebrate 25 years of great PD and networking as we gather at the resort. I think you will see the program is just right for all leaders at all levels, even IF folks and other teacher leaders. All are invited and you can bring your family for a great relaxing time.

Soak in the hot mineral pools and soak up some very timely PD.

This year we will focus on the next generation of assessment for Wyoming. This conference should be attended by school leaders at all levels including Superintendents, Curriculum Directors, Principals, Assistant Principals, Instructional Facilitators and other teacher leaders.

We will kick off with a breakfast buffet each morning at 7:00am.

Folks from ACT and the WDE will be with us Thursday morning to give us an in depth look at the ACT assessment and how to use them as formative tools going forward in our schools. State Superintendent Balow will also be with us Thursday morning.

Thursday afternoon is designated as a time to enjoy the Saratoga area, golfing, floating, soaking or just hanging by the pool. You might even want to slide over to the hobo hot tub.

Thursday evening will provide the opportunity to network with a social hour sponsored by Lifetouch, followed by a grand dinner together at the resort.

Friday morning we will be joined by staff from American Institute from Research (AIR) to give us a good look at the new assessment replacing the beloved PAWS test. This early look will give you a head start in fall planning.

We are still working on the complete schedule and will have Supt. Balow with us on Thursday morning along with Senator Wasserburger and State School Board Chair Walt Wilcox. When you submit your registration you will be added to the mailing list to receive updates as we move closer to this one of a kind event.

Room reservations at the resort can be made at 307-326-5261. Tell them you are with the Wyoming School Administrators group. 25th? Annual WSA Conference and Summer Retreat
