Ian Thomas, OUR NEW CONSTITUTION – Hooray!! Our recently updated Constitution was passed and approved by Consumer Affairs Victoria and is now officially our “current” Constitution as of November 28th 2013. Copies will soon be printed and made available to Members. BUILDING ALTERATIONS -have been officially completed. A few “little” bits to do. A couple of issues include: - Completion of steel hand rail from front gate to door; - Mirror and toilet paper holder in disabled toilet - A better locking system for the front door Jeanette Barrett will form and coordinate a Sub-Committee needed for planning the layout, use and decoration of the new areas that have been created. Thanks Jeanette!

We have signed with a new Electricity provider, Momentum Energy – their rates will reduce our costs by at least a 1/3.

A Test & Tag program was recently completed for all our power cords and electrical appliances – this is required yearly as part of our Lease Agreement with Kingston Council. Defective cables have been marked with a Red Tag and will be disposed of.

The GREEN NEWS – we have put monies raised by Functions and the like to improving our Club. You will notice the new Scoops – pick one up – they are nice and light and a delight to use. Too, we have just purchased a FAT BOY – for our Greens maintenance. Daniel, our Greens Keeper, needs a Fat Boy especially to maintain the new thatched ‘A’ Green – but the Fat Boy can be used on any of our Greens, even on a synthetic surface. OK, what is a Fat Boy? Without being too technical – it is a metal roller with heavy duty, thick metal brushes that rotates at high speed and which literally “shave” away the bumps on a Green. The roller fits into a lawn mower and takes the place of the rotating blades we normally use. AND we are looking at purchasing some new Aggregate Scoreboards as well as upgrading the single rink scoreboards – it must be Christmas!

CLUB ROOM HIRE – we are getting MANY requests to hire our Club Rooms for private functions, before and after Christmas. These are great money spinners – the best so far, last week, netted the Club over a $1,000 – and they help promote the game of bowls and increase our chances for future memberships. AND... Barefoot Bowls starts on Fridays the 2nd week of January - SO... if you can VOLUNTEER a few hours on some of these evenings PLEASE let a Board Member know or put your name down on a Roster Sheet (usually up on the Bar bench). THANKS!

Page No.3 Almost Finally, we (and other Clubs around Victoria) have had notification from VicPol re Operation RAID aimed at alcohol affected drivers leaving sporting clubs until January 5th 2014. A timely reminder for Members and visitors;

FINALLY – a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year from the Board to all our Members and their loved ones !! – Jeanette Barrett, Claire Baskett, Judy Munn, Suzanne Webber, Bob Hasler, Walter Trupke, Graham Unwin and yours sincerely, Ian Thomas.

With Regards, Ian
