SUBJECT: Mandated Employee Notification – Sexual Harassment Training

In accordance with our Board Policy/Administrative Regulation 4119.11, Sexual Harassment, the District shall take all actions necessary to ensure the prevention, investigation and correction of sexual harassment, including but not limited to: providing training to employees.

On line sexual harassment, training has been provided for our District through the Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs (ASCIP). The course is interactive and includes information and practical guidance covering State and Education Code legislation as it pertains to the prohibition, prevention and correction of sexual harassment in the workplace. If in house training is needed, the supervisor/director may contact LaShon McClain-Rayford in Human Resources.

Administrators are to make sure that all of their employees are trained on “Preventing Sexual Harassment” using this online training program by December 1, 2008. This includes all employees, including those who were previously trained within the past three years. Employees can access this 30-minute training program from any computer. ASCIP’s on line training program has an automatic tracking feature that maintains a training record for every employee who takes the course, which will assist us in helping to ensure that our District is in compliance.

All administrators will need to train again on the “AB 1825: Sexual Harassment Training for Managers” by December 1, 2008.

Both harassment online training programs can be accessed by logging onto: www.ascip.com. The self-registration instructions are on the back of this memo.

Certificated and Classified Employees (30 minutes)

Step 1: To Log on, go to: www.ascip.org Click on the banner titled Online Training

Step 2: Enter your user ID: first initial of your first name and first initial of your last name followed by your birth date (no spaces). Example: JD032157

You only need to complete the “red” questions. Click on “District”, scroll down or type the first letter of our District’s name and select Culver City Unified School District. Click on “Site.” Sites include:

El Marino El Rincon Farragut La Ballona Linwood E. Howe Culver City Middle Culver City Senior High (for security, under department, click unknown) Culver Park (this includes Independent Study) Adult School Child Development M&O (Maintenance and Operations) District Office Staff Superintendent’s Office Business Services Educational Services Human Resources

After the first log on, you will be able to sign on just by typing your USER ID. Retain your USER ID for future use.

Step 3: Once you are logged in, it will take you to “Search Course Catalog.” Leave the first two boxes blank and scroll to “All Categories” in the “Category” box and click on search button, which will bring up the Course Catalog. Employees will choose “Preventing Sexual Harassment,” which is fourth from the bottom. Click take course.
