Chief Pilot Flight Operations-Training with the world’s fastest growing LCC. Amit has done his initial training at IGRUA, premier flying training institute in India. He has behind him, 20 years of flying experience, which includes 15 years with Air India prior to joining InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) in 2006.

Amit is a TRE/TRI/Check Pilot on A-320 aircraft.

He has undergone the Airbus APIC (Airbus Pilot Instructor Course), Airbus Safety Management System course and IATA Diploma in Aviation. He has also completed a course on Instructional Design which focuses on Training styles, Training Content and successful design syllabus for various courses.

He has been instrumental in the development of the IndiGo FDM programme as Fleet Captain Safety.

In addition to his flight safety functions, Amit has also handled the responsibilities of Fleet Captain-Technical at IndiGo. Amit has reviewed flight operations technical documents and the Company Operations Manual. He was then appointed as Fleet Captain Training leading to his current role as Chief Pilot Training.

Amit believes in focusing on finding out the current needs of the Trainees, the flight exceedence trend analysis, identifying critical safety issues and then working out a training program which addresses the needs of the individual rather following the “one size fits all” training programmes. Besides skill based crew training, Amit is working towards developing the soft skills needed for effective training and creating a training environment which promotes the concept of need based training required for enhancing safety in aviation. Teaching a Pilot” how to think” in the most adverse conditions is what he hopes to achieves through his approach to training. Amit has been involved in running a PIC upgrade programme which runs on minimum experience and focuses on the needs of the individual and filling up the gaps to ensure continued safe operations.
