Solar Operations and Maintenance Training Curriculum Development Julie Brazeau, Solar Technical Assistance Coordinator Midwest Renewable Energy Association This project developed and delivered advanced Solar Operations and Maintenance training to municipalities, facility owners and solar contractors in Wisconsin with the objective of ensuring that new and existing PV systems in Wisconsin are properly maintained throughout their expected system lifetimes of 25 or more years. The project developed a curriculum that outlines O&M strategies for PV systems in northern latitudes where, in addition to ordinary maintenance concerns, additional stresses of extreme temperature ranges, seasonal sun angles and snow loads can become service related issues. Milwaukee Shines: Solar PV O&M Training for Municipalities Elizabeth Hittman, Solar Program Manager - Milwaukee Shines City of Milwaukee Solar Program This project addressed specific operations and maintenance procedures as they apply to municipalities in southeast Wisconsin. Milwaukee Shines partnered with a third party trainer to provide training that ensures PV systems are being property maintained. The training will help to ensure solar installers and municipal staff are up to speed on the latest solar technology applications and the operations and maintenance requirements that accompany any PV installation such as: repairing or replacing equipment, monitoring, diagnostics, module and racking inspections, cleaning, vegetation control and warranty management.
