NDI Engineering Company provides ship design, naval architecture, marine engineering, and professional services to the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and commercial maritime industry. We have an immediate need for an entry to mid-level Naval Architect in our Thorofare, NJ office to support our current and emerging programs.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in ship design, planning and production, alterations, and complex ship operations.

• Experience with developing and reviewing calculations, technical reports, and various technical materials including weights and moments, vessel trim and stability, structural and vibration analysis, and other naval architect related issues. • Perform ship design studies, analysis of alternatives, design reviews, and engineering analyses. • Perform ship checks to evaluate and validate engineering designs with vessel systems and structures. • Interpret ship’s drawing information and mark-ups and communicate required drawing changes to designers/draftsmen and technicians. • Provide quality review of drawings and technical products developed by department staff. • Familiarity with various rules and regulatory bodies including ABS, USCG, SOLAS, MIL- standards. • Work independently under the general guidance of department senior professional staff. • Professionally interface and communicate with customers and vendors. • Demonstrate experience in AutoCAD (3D-modeling including Rhino a plus). • Experience with naval architecture software such as General HydroStatics (GHS) and Fastship. • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) a plus. • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus. • Available to travel both continental U.S. and outside continental U.S. MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture or similar degree. • One (1) to ten (10) years of experience in the maritime industry. • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, 3D modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and GHS a plus. • Ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to conduct ship checks. • Work independently (with minimal supervision) or on project teams. • Strong communication, written and documentation skills. • Proof of US citizenship. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an US DoD security clearance. NDI Engineering Company is a privately-held small business consulting firm.
