NorCal Chapter of US Lacrosse Board Meeting Monday, October 16, 2017 Telephonic Roll call: Laura Jennings, Don Aiello, Ian Beed (joined at 7:20pm), Andy Still, Jeanette Fritzky, Phil Bodenhorn, Ted Patchet and Lyn Porterfield (USL Staff),

Absent: Brian Atwell, Lou Biaggi and Stephen Depetris

Meeting Minutes

1. Reviewed and adopt minutes from September 14, 2017 meeting (TP) a. Phil moved to adopt, Laura seconded, all approved except Jeanette abstained.

2. Key activities, initiatives and objectives - status a. 2017 Activities, initiatives and objectives update (DA) a.i. California lacrosse convention is off. a.ii. HOF (DA) a.ii.1. 2 people still have not voted from the Board. a.ii.2. Once voting is complete, 2017 inductees will be announced and dinner will be held in 2018. a.iii. Train-The-Trainer Event on November 4, 2017 a.iii.1. 9 respondents (5 women and 4 men), working to confirm them all now. a.iii.2. All NCCUSL Board members are welcome to attend. a.iv. Sticks and Equipment Update (IB) a.iv.1. All sticks used at least once and some twice. a.iv.2. Additional stick loan requests expected. a.iv.3. Unused jerseys and equipment donated to new Morgan Hill program. a.iv.4. Still have 2 new full-size goals and nets as well as 2 small PVC goals. a.v. All-American Process a.v.1. Amy Harris resigned and Don bumped this US Lacrosse for a replacement. b. Women’s umpire committee update (LJ/SP) b.i. Opened registration and sent communication to former umpires as well as 41 former officials. b.ii. Tournament in Danville on 10/17 to train on 3-official mechanics. b.iii. 6 people have applied. b.iv. Jill Daly has moved back to Oakland and will be in charge of evaluations. c. Status of FUP with USL grant recipients (BA) c.i. Brian was not present to provide a report but Don said Brian has checked in with all grant recipients. d. Other outreach (BA/PB) d.i. Phil suggested creating a rotational station clinic for new players based upon his experience in prior programs - 10 stations with a high school or college coach at each station with several players to coach lacrosse fundamentals and be able to contribute more to the team. d.ii. Ted thought this could be very beneficial and it could be used either regionally or within a single club. d.iii. Jeanette cited importance of training coaches how to integrate new and existing players. d.iv. Laura thought doing this by video would be most effective. e. What should the NCCUSL do support fire affected lacrosse families? (All) e.i. Jim Peevey at SlingIt! Lacrosse looking at doing an equipment drive. e.ii. Ted called Dave Almy about Cardinal Newman who was grateful for the reachout and left a message for Mike Volatile at the Santa Rosa Steelheads. e.iii. Don called Santa Rosa, Napa and Mendocino. e.iv. Santa Rosa may need field help and administrative help. e.v. Laura working on this for the NCJLA and will report back on the findings/steps taken by them. e.vi. Don will let people know how to apply to the NorCal Lacrosse Foundation and ask for donations to cover to the foundation to cover registration fees. e.vii. Lynn said that US Lacrosse could do hardship memberships, Laura will connect with Lynn.

3. 2017 Chapter Financials (SD) a. P&L - $4,189.24 ahead of budget with some expenses (E.g. sticks) to come in soon. b. B/S - $26,131.84 in the bank.

4. 2017 Umpire Financials (SD) a. P&L - $12,517.19 in the bank. More money will come in over the next 3 months until the games start and umpire fees are paid. 5. Next meeting date – Monday, November 20, 2017

6. Phil Bodenhorn motioned to adjourn. Jeanette Fritzky seconded. All approved, meeting adjourned.
