Livestock Aid Centres - 114 nos g. Gomitras Centres - 96 nos The C.D.V.O is the Supervising Officer of the District. The concerned S.D.V.Os directly monitor the Sub-Division wise Animal Husbandry Activities like Vaccinations, Treatment, Castration, Fodder Cultivations, CRP Programme, Artificial Insemination, Out-break if any, Livestock Inspector/Veterinary Asst. Surgeon and Gomitras. During 2009-10 Govt has sanctioned the construction of the office buildings of 79 no of LAC &10 no of VD under RIDF-XIII & the construction of these buildings are under progress. The VAS, LI & Gomitras are allotted GP for their area of operation & they perform treatment, vaccination, deworming camps, castration .Artificial Insemination, fodder cultivation & training & extension activities in their respective GP’s. The Addl.VAS of the respective blocks are to monitor the schematic Animal Husbandry activities including anti poverty programme & the development of dairy, small animal, poultry. 1. DISTRICT A.R.D. 4. DISEASE DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY, (D.D.L.) BALASORE:- AIM & OBJECTIVE :- There is one D.D.L in Balasore which is located inside the campus of Veterinary Hospital, Balasore. The Aim & objective of the DDL-

(a) To provide diagnostic services to the farmers relating to various diseases of Livestock & Poultry in the district. (b) To ensure close surveillance of different infectious and contagious disease of Livestock & Poultry. (c) Help in combating out break of Livestock & Poultry diseases in the District by providing early diagnoses in collaboration with ADRI, Phulnakhar, Cuttack. (d) Different test conducted in DDL & its user charges (samples are received during morning. i. Faecal sample - Rs.5/- ii. Blood sample – Rs.5/- iii. Nasal smear – Rs. 5/- iv. Urine sample – Rs.5/- v. Culture & sensitivity – Rs.50/-

5. CALF REARING PROGRAMME :- IMPLEMENTATION OF FEMALE CROSS BREED CALF REARING PROGRAMME SANCTIONED UNDER RKVY DURING 2010-11

In the year 2010-11- 900 nos of cross breed female calves in the milk society area will be taken of under the calf rearing scheme. As per the scheme minimum age of cross breed female calves should be four month of age. 1. The primary objective of CRP programme is to up grade non-Descript (Desi cows) by doing Artificial Insemination & helps in increase of milk production. 2. The scheme is being implemented by milk producer co-operative society in association with C.D.V.O, Office, local Veterinary Asst. Surgeon & local Livestock Inspector. 3. The calves under the scheme are insured by the insurance company form 04 month to 28 months. 4. Total quantity of feed per calf from 04 month to 28 months work out to 1360 kg. which will be supplied to the farmer in 50% subsidy. 6. FODDER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN BALASORE DISTRICT.

To popularize fodder cultivation among dairy farmers and to reduce their milk production cost by feeding green fodder different schemes are going on as follows:-

7. SEASONAL FODDER MINIKIT DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMME. i. Kharif Season:- Fodder crop seed minikits of M.P.Chari, Sodex chari,Pc-6, Maize, Bajra, Cowpea, Guanr etc are supplied to farmers during month of June- July free of cost each demonstration plot covers 25 cents. ii. Rabi Season:- Fodder crop seeds like Berseem, Lucerne, Oat etc supplied to farmers during month of November-December free of cost each demonstration plot covers -25 cents. 8. PERENNIAL FODDER, CULTIVATION BY FARMERS:- Perennial fodder crop roots/ slips like Hybrid Napier, Co-1, Guinea, Andropogon, Paragrass etc are supplied to farmers on payment of root/slip cost @ 25 paisa each. Root/Slip are available at Livestock Breeding Farm, Remuna and Fodder Nursery point at C.D.V.O, Officer campus. 9. ENRICHMENT OF CROP RESIDUES :- Demonstration for enrichment of low grade roughages like paddy straw with urea & molasses to enhance nutritive vale and feeding dairy animals to reduce feeding cost. The programme is implemented in dairy co- operative societies. 10. R.K.V.Y FODDER PRODUCTION PROGRAMME:- The programme implemented during the year 2010-11. The programme has been taken up in selected cluster of Basta and Baliapal Block for massive fodder cultivation in farmers field as both the blocks are intensive dairy pockets. Both seasonal and perennial fodder crops are being taken up. For seasonal fodder crop seeds like M.P.Chari, Pc-6, Cow-Pea with chemical fertilizers are supplied free of cost to selected dairy farmers for fodder cultivation in 10 cent Land each. For perennial fodder crops Co-1, Paragrass, Guinea roots/slips with chemical fertilizers are supplied free of cost to farmers for raising perennial fodder plot minimum of 10 cents. Farmers training programme on fodder cultivation are being conducted at village level.

11. LBD FARM,REMUNA Name :- The Livestock Breeding and Dairy Farm, Remuna, Dist.- Balasore Year of Establishment :- The 27th June, 1965. Location :- It is situated at Ganeswarpur, P.o-Ganeswarpur, Remuna, Balasore only 0.5Km from NH-5 on Januganj Golei towards Remuna Bazar. AIM AND OBJECTIVE :- The Livestock Breeding and Dairy Farm was set up with a view to provide the technical knowledge to the Dairy Farms on Dairy Development activities as follows:- 1. L.B.D Far, Remuna acts as Bull mother farm for production of genetically quality Bulls for semen collection for A.I work and natural breeding in inaccessible area. 2. It acts as a demonstration unit for imparting training to the Dairy Farmers regarding scientific housing, feeding and management of the cross bred cows. 3. It also acts as a demonstration unit providing technical knowledge pertaining to the quality of fodder production, preservation of surplus fodder by hay making and silage making and use of this during non-availability of green fodder. 4. Supply of whole milk to the consumers. 5. Quality milk production by scientific management with respect to high fat and SNF content which fetches good market price. 6. The surplus stock of quality cows and heifers are sold to the farmers. 7. INFRASTRUCTURES 1. Name of the Farm:- Livestock Breeding and Dairy Farm, Remuna, Balasore. 2.
