SUNY CORE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Introduction : All baccalaureate degree candidates at any college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system must complete a 30 credit-hour General Education requirement. Students must take at least one approved course in each of the ten areas identified below. Students at Suffolk County Community College who plan to transfer to a SUNY four-year institution are expected to complete a minimum of 21 credits (7 courses) of the SUNY general education course requirements. Students are strongly advised to satisfy the full 30-credit requirement prior to transfer.

SCCC GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Students in AA and AS programs must satisfy the following minimum requirement:
English: EG 11, EG 13
Humanities: 9 credits. Only one course may be English. May be selected from: CN, CO, EG, FL (Foreign Language), GR, HM, ID, MU, PL, TH, VA
Social Science: 9 credits. Must include at least one history course. (American History, Western Civilization or non-Western Culture)
Mathematics: One College Level Math course. (MA 17 or higher) Be certain to check with an advisor regarding appropriate course selection. Science: One laboratory science course
Physical Education: 2 credits
Freshman Seminar: 1.5 credits
Students in AAS degree programs must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
English: EG 11, plus additional 3 credit EG elective
Humanities: 3 credits (any Humanities course, other than English) May be selected from: CN, CO, FL (Foreign Language), GR, HM, ID, MU, PL, TH, VA
Social Science: 6 credits
Mathematics/Science: Two college level mathematics (MA 17 or higher) and/or laboratory science courses
Physical Education: 2 credits
Freshman Seminar 1.5 credits
