JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF POST: Communications & GRADE: Scale SO1 SP29-31 Marketing Officer £29,424 to £31,141 pa pro rata HOURS OF WORK P.W.: 28 hours per week ELIGIBLE FOR JOB No SHARE: CONTRACT LENGTH Permanent ANNUAL LEAVE: 26 days per year plus Bank Holidays pro rata PENSION: Contributory Pension Scheme: Employee – 6%, Employer – 6% RESPONSIBLE TO: Service Manager RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers and interns when applicable.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role will include working on printed materials for the charity’s campaigns and projects, designing artwork, editing and writing content for the web, including blog posts, and producing Age UK Camden’s monthly e-newsletter and regular e-shots.

Working in a varied and dynamic organisation, the post holder will connect the services, enhance internal and external communications and improve brand awareness. As an independent charity providing varied and complex delivery throughout the borough, this role is vital in ensuring our impact is seen, our volunteers are celebrated and that awareness of our services is improved via creative use of print, social media and wider PR and marketing.

There will also be collaboration with our Community Partnership and Fundraising Officer with fundraising events, appeals to businesses and promotion of individual giving, along with use of (social) media and forging links with local and national press.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements specific to this job:

1. To develop an annual communications and marketing strategy for the organisation in conjunction with the Senior Manager, co-ordinate and implement.

2. Oversee the production of all marketing materials including writing of , such as leaflets, Annual Review (produced with an editor and designer), website and social media, including ensuring the integrity of the Age UK Camden and Opening Doors London brands in conjunction with the Senior Manager

1 3. To oversee the organisation’s website, including writing and uploading material and maintenance/archiving. Responding accordingly to AUK requirements and ensuring all info is up-to-date, working with relevant service leads and the Office Coordinator

4. Proactively collate and prepare quarterly newsletters utilising Mail Chimp; maintaining and improving the list of recipients and our monthly staff newsletter, in conjunction with the relevant Senior Manager.

5. To be responsible for generating press releases and other coverage (e.g. letters) in local (and where appropriate regional and national) media and monitoring, collating of press coverage.

6. Work with Age UK National and Age UK London to satisfy their media requests as deemed realistic.

7. Raise the Age UK Camden profile in the community by arranging and giving talks.

8. Coordinate the Annual General Meeting in conjunction with the relevant Senior Manager. In conjunction with the Governance Officer in ensuring membership levels are appropriate

9. Co-ordinate mailings and distribution of publicity materials managing the external distribution to clients and partners. In conjunction with the Office Coordinator. Maintaining an up-to-date database of external agencies.

10. Facilitate special group activities as and when needed, in conjunction with various service leads and managers.

11.Work with the Community Partnership & Fundraising Officer on developing fundraising appeals through sponsored events, approaches to business and the promotion of individual giving and legacies.

12.Maintain various online databases, listing services and activities to proactively ensure they are all up to date.

13.To maximise awareness of AUC’s services via various social media platforms, working closely with wider teams in capturing ‘good news stories’ and creating content that best reflects the varied service delivery. For AUC and subsidiaries inc. Opening Doors London.

14.To supervise volunteers or interns involved in any of the above.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

To carry out general administrative tasks associated with the role, together with responding to telephone and emails and signposting where relevant.

Any other reasonable tasks as identified by line manager.

To attend regular supervision meeting with the line manager

To attend quarterly all staff meetings.

2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work, for which time off in lieu can be claimed. 2. To undertake any other tasks commensurate with the skills of the post holder as may be reasonably required by AUC from time to time. 8.
