Open to Senior members of an affiliated Riding Team: Class 1 BRC Senior Challenge 100 Club that have paid their membership for the £120 current year. Horses or ponies not to have gained Qualifier Ind: & 1a more than 20 BE points at the close of prelim SJ Max height:1m £30 entry. Open to Junior members of an affiliated Riding Team: BRC Junior Challenge 100 Club that have paid their membership for the Class 2 £120 current year. Horses or ponies not to have gained Qualifier Ind: & 2a more than 20 BE points at the close of prelim SJ Max height: 1m £30 entry. Open to Senior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the Team: BRC Senior Challenge 90 current year. Horses or ponies may be registered Class 3 £120 with BE but must not have gained any points nor Qualifier Ind: & 3a have been placed in the first six in any BE 100 SJ Max height: 85cm £30 competition in the current or previous calendar year at the close of prelim entry. Open to Junior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the Team: BRC Junior Challenge 90 current year. Horses or ponies may be registered Class 4 £120 with BE but must not have gained any points nor Qualifier Ind: & 4a have been placed in the first six in any BE 100 SJ Max height: 85cm £30 competition in the current or previous calendar year at the close of prelim entry. Open to Senior members of an affiliated Riding BRC Senior Pairs Challenge 90 Club that have paid their membership for the Pair: current year. Horses or ponies not to have gained Class 5 Qualifier £50 SJ Max height: 85cm more than 20 BE points at the close of prelim entry. Open to Junior members of an affiliated Riding BRC Junior Pairs Challenge 90 Club that have paid their membership for the Pair: current year. Horses or ponies not to have gained Class 6 Qualifier £50 SJ Max height: 85cm more than 20 BE points at the close of prelim entry.

Prelim Entries All entrants for the festival of the horse challenge must pay a prelim entry of £28 per team, £11 per pair and £9 per individual to British Riding Clubs at least 21 days before the date of the qualifier (12 th April 2015). Prelim entry forms can be found on the BRC website for postal entries www.britishridingclubs.org.uk or online entries can be made via the BHS bookshop www.britishhorse.com Late prelim entries may be accepted with a late surcharge of £20 per team or pair and £10 per individual at the discretion of the organiser if sufficient places are available. Late entries cannot be guaranteed and must not be paid for without consulting the organiser first.

If the date of the qualifier is cancelled for any reason, the close of prelim entry will remain. However, if the qualifier is moved more than 21 days later, entries will be re-opened but late entry fees cannot be refunded. Eligibility will be considered from the original close of prelim entry.

All hats must have a visible blue BRC hat tag in place before they are used for warming up and competing. There will be a trained steward available on the day of the competition who can tag you hat for you if it does not already have one.

Protective Headgear ‘ Protective Headwear’ must be worn at all times by anyone, whether or not a Competitor, riding anywhere at a BRC event. Harnesses must be correctly adjusted and fastened. At all BRC Championships and qualifiers ‘Protective Headwear’ must show a visible BRC ‘hat tag’. ‘Protective Headwear’ constitutes a hat which meets one of the following standards. Failure to do so will incur elimination.

PAS 015:1998 or 2011, British BSEN1384:1997 or 2012 European EN1384:1996

American All SEI, ASTM F1163:2004a, 04a or SNELL E2001 Australian & New All SAI AS/NZS 3838 2006 Zealand

Hard hats to specification PAS015 and ASTM F1163 are considered to offer greater protection than EN1384 and BSEN1384. Hard hats must carry the quality assurance stamp of Kitemark or SEI. It is emphasised that hats bearing a quality assurance stamp are batch tested and therefore of a constant standard. Skullcap hats must be worn with an appropriate colour silk for that discipline (see Appendix 4) . Competitors are strongly advised to check their hats regularly and to replace them if damaged or following a fall.

Body Protectors A body protector is obligatory in all cross-country competitions and is strongly recommended in show jumping competitions. A BETA Level 3 (purple label) which has been manufactured in the year 2000 or after must be worn. Body protectors should be fitted and worn as per the manufacturer’s instructions. The up to date BETA list of body protectors can be obtained from www.beta-uk.org.

If a rider chooses to wear an airbag style body protector it must be worn over a permitted body protector and if activated, must be deflated or removed before continuing. Hybrid Air-jackets are permitted.

Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the secretary at all events.

Medical armbands Medical armbands are mandatory for any type of cross-country competition. These must be worn on the arm and not on the leg. They should be filled in with the relevant competitor’s details. Spot checks will be carried out in the collecting ring.

Tack and Dress Rules Please make sure you adhere to tack and dress rules found in the current version of the BRC rules. The full 2015 version is available to download online.

Equine Influenza Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations in line with rule G7 in the current BRC Rulebook. There is also a checking device on the BRC website or if you would like further clarification, please call BRC and speak to one of the team 02476 840518. All competitors must bring their own number holders, number infills will be supplied.
