A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of James Grant Meadows. WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows was born on May 6, 1927, the cherished son of the late Nannie Applegate Meadows and Roland Russell Meadows; and WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows served as a cook in the United States Army during World War II. He cooked on troop trains and in army camps in Orlando, Florida; Camp Dix, New Jersey, and Camp Crowder, Missouri; and WHEREAS, after his discharge from the Army, James Grant Meadows worked at Magee's Bakery, Ruble's Baking Company in Cincinnati, and Manchester Banking Company in Maysville. He also owned his own bakery in the 1950s; and WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows purchased The Donut Shop in downtown Maysville in 1980 and operated it as Jim's Donut Shop until his retirement in 1999; and WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows was an active member of the First Christian Church; and WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows departed this earthly life and entered the kingdom of Heaven on March 5, 2015, leaving his family, friends, and all those whose lives he had touched in solemn mourning; and WHEREAS, James Grant Meadows was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Margaret Hay Meadows; his daughter, Teresa Dawn; his brothers, Harry and

Bobby; and his sister, Mildred Ann. He is survived by his children, Karen and her husband, Joe, Diana and her husband, Jon, Jimmy, David and his wife, Lisa, Lisa and her husband, Rob, Ashley, Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, and Stephen; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emma Reynolds; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby extends its deepest and most

profound condolences upon the passing of James Grant Meadows, and extends its heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and community in this time of loss.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of James Grant Meadows.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Mike Denham for delivery.
