(Enter the thieves, sneaking quietly onto the stage) Pete: Atchoo! Mr Black: Shhhhhhhhh! Mary: Where are we? Mr Black: We are in the Museum. Jane: What’s this? Mr Black: This is the diamond of Wimberly Boo. This is the most beautiful diamond in the world. Pete: It is the most expensive diamond in the world. Mary. It is the biggest diamond in the world. Jane: It is the heaviest diamond in the world. Mr Black: Yes, and we are going to steal it. I am the most intelligent thief in the world. Pete: I am the fastest thief in the world. Mary: You? I am the fastest thief in the world. Jane: You? Ha, ha, ha. I am the fastest thief in the world. Pete: I am faster than you! Mary: I am faster than you1 Jane: I am faster than you and you! Pete: I am… Mr Black: Be quiet! I am the fastest thief in the world, I am the most intelligent thief in the world and I am the best. Come on, take the diamond. (Enter the teacher and the children, who wait at the edge of the stage) Mr Black: Look, children, hide.

Jane: Oh no, the diamond! (Jane goes and gets it)

Mr Black: You idiot! (Exit thieves) (The teacher and students now come on stage. The students are all making a lot of noise) Teacher. Ok, be quiet, be quiet. John: Can I go to the toilet? Teacher: No. This is the famous diamond of Wimberly Boo. (Indicating the diamond on the table) Who can tell me about the famous Diamond of Wimberly? Bob: It’s very famous. Teacher: Yes, and? Bob: It’s from Wimberly Boo. Teacher: Good, and..? Bob: That’s all I know. Teacher: Bob, come here. (Bob approaches and the teacher smacks Bob over the head) Teacher: Anyone else? Wendy: It is the most important diamond in the world. Emily: It is the heaviest diamond in the world. Sara: It is the biggest diamond in the world. Bob: It is the most beautiful diamond in the world. John: It is the most expensive diamond in the world. Teacher: Correct. It is expensive, it is big, it is beautiful, and it is...gone!!!! Everyone: Gone? Teacher: The diamond is gone! Where is the diamond? Oh no, call the police Teacher: (getting out a mobile phone) Hello, Police, please come to the museum. (Sound of police car. Enter Police) Inspector Big: Hello. Teacher: Hello Inspector Big: My name is Big, Inspector Big. Sergeant Green: My name is Sergeant Green. Sergeant Blue: My name is Sergeant Blue. The Inspector and the sergeant(s) now ask the children some questions, depending on what your children know.

Inspector Big: What is your name? Emily: My name is Emily: Inspector Big: Where do you live? Emily: I live in.... Inspector Big: Who is this? Teacher: This is John. Sergeant Green: Where do you live? John: I live in ..... Inspector Big: Who is this? Teacher: This is Sara. Inspector green: Where do you go to school? Sara: I go to ...... Sergeant Green: Have you got any brothers and sisters? etc Sergeant Green: Who is this? Teacher: This is Bob. Sergeant Blue: Where do you go to school? Bob: I go to...... Sergeant Blue: Do you speak Spanish? Bob: Yes, I do. Sergeant Blue: Can you swim? Bob: Yes, I can. Inspector Big: Who is this? Teacher: This is Wendy. Inspector Green: Where do you go to school? Wendy: I go to ...... Inspector Green: What is your favourite subject at school? Wendy: ...... Sergeant Green: Do you like diamonds? Wendy: Yes, I do. Inspector Green: Ha, ha! The thief, the thief! Teacher: She is not a thief. Wendy: I am not a thief.

(The Inspector and the sergeants pick up various objects from the floor, coats, books, etc.) Emily: It’s mine Sergeant Green: Whose is this? John: It’s mine Sergeant Blue: Whose is this? Sara: It’s mine Inspector Green: Whose is this? Bob: It’s mine Sergeant Green: Whose is this? Wendy: It’s mine Sergeant Blue: Whose is this? (The sergeant picks up a bag or something belonging to one of the thieves who are still hiding in the corner) (Pete the thief, who has been hiding, now steps out and gives himself away) Pete: It’s mine. Mr Black: No, you idiot! Inspector big: It’s Pete Smith, the best thief in the world. (Jane steps out)

Jane: What! I’m the best thief in the world. (Mary steps out)

Mary: You! I’m the best thief in the world! Pete: What time is it? (Mr Black steps out)

Mr Black: I think it’s time to go.

Sergeant Green, Inspector Big, Sergeant Blue: Mr Black!!!!!!!! Stop!!!! (Exit thieves chased by police and children.)

Scene 2

The thieves go to the front of the stage and look through their binoculars and describe what they can see, using “There is a ...... on/under/ next to/over etc the...... ” They can follow the script or they can invent using what vocabulary and prepositions they can remember)

Mr Black: (Holding a pair of binoculars) Can you see the police? Jane: No, I can’t. There is an aeroplane in the sky. Pete: There is a fox under the tree. Mary: There is a house on the hill. Mr Black: There is a bird in the sky. They thieves now stay in one corner of the stage looking to the side so that they don’t notice the children or the police enter. Enter the police who are looking through their binoculars.

Inspector Big: Can you see the thieves? Sergeant Green: No, there is a whale under the sea. Sergeant Blue: There is a bird in the sky. Inspector Big: There is a rabbit in the cave. The police move to the back of the stage and look the other way so they don’t notice either the thieves or the children. Enter the children and teacher.

Teacher: Where are they, where are they? Emily: I don’t know. John: There are some cats in the tree. Sara: There is a boat on the sea. Bob: There are some cows in the field. Wendy: There is a castle in the forest. All three groups slowly back into each other from the three corners of the stage, and surprise each other.

Everyone: Aaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(There is a chaotic fight and the children capture the thieves) (Everyone now says what they are going to do. They can invent or follow the script)

Inspector Big: Ah! I have got the diamond. You are going to prison. Sergeant Blue: Yes, you are going to prison. Inspector Big: Well done, children. What are you going to do? Sergeant Green: I am going to have a holiday. Sergeant Blue: I am going to visit my friend. Sara: I am going to read a book. Bob: I am going to watch a video. Emily: I am going to visit the castle. Inspector Big: Me, I am going to have a holiday. Everyone: A holiday? Inspector Big: Yes, I am going to have a big expensive holiday. Goodbye. Everyone: Goodbye. Inspector Big exits, secretly taking the diamond with him. Teacher: Where is the Diamond? Sergeant Green: Have you got the diamond, Sergeant Blue? Sergeant Blue: I haven’t got the diamond. You’ve got the diamond. Sergeant Green: I haven’t got the diamond. You’ve got the diamond! Sergeant Blue: I haven’t got the diamond. Everyone: Who’s got the diamond? Sergeant Blue/Green: Oh no!!!! Everyone: Oh no!!!!! The Inspector! Stop him, stop him!!!!!!! (They all exit running after the Inspector) The End
