New Member Orientation/Cleared-to-Ride Training

Once a prospective member is voted into probationary status, the next step is to begin immersion into the Company. The Membership Committee will provide detailed information regarding next steps.

A key element of that immersion is an orientation to the company and ‘Cleared-to- Ride’ (CTR) training. Such training is conducted by the Training Committee. See the Training Summary for a list of CTR requirements

CTR training is offered monthly, pending enrollment demands, except for December which is a busy month for other Company activity.

The classes begin the week after new members are voted in at the monthly membership meeting. They often include BBP and CPR classes scheduled and taught in-house by Company 14 and/or by our own instructors. They are also scheduled so as not to conflict with the monthly County Volunteer Orientation dates.

All classes are conducted at the Station unless otherwise noted.

CTR EMS Training

EMS Training (CPR, BBP) is regularly offered by the County and periodically by Company 14 as a courtesy to Company 2 members needing such training.

BBP training will be part of the CTR class.

The dates of these training options are not scheduled like the CTR Fire training. Members must sign up for County Training per the County procedures or sign up with Company 14 when they announce the dates for their training.

New members have the option to do this either way, but once you sign up, you must attend the session for which you registered.

Additional CTR Requirements

New members must also attend the County Orientation, secure a County Physical, complete NIMS/ICS 100/200/700/800 on the computer and complete By Laws familiarization.

Membership will provide detailed information about all requirements for CTR.

New members must turn in a completed and signed CTR checklist to be cleared to ride and issued full PPE.
