Reading: History Alive! Sections 5.2 & 5.3

Reading Notes: On pages 28 & 29 in your notebook, answer the following questions using two column notes.

1. Describe the relationship between the colonists and Britain before 1763. 2. Briefly, discuss the French & Indian War (who fought, who won, the colonists immediate reaction). 3. What problems did Britain face after the war? 4. What was the Proclamation of 1763? 5. What were the effects of the Proclamation? 6. What was the Stamp Act? 7. How did the colonists react to the Stamp Act?

Processing: Complete the following activities in your notebook. Pages: 30 & 31 1. Page 10. Glue the maps handout into your notebook. Using your textbook as a guide, color the two maps to show the changes in North America as a result of the war. 2. Page11  Create a political cartoon dealing with the Proclamation of 1763 or the Stamp Act.  Include at least some of the political cartoon elements (symbols, labels, etc.) in your cartoon.  Title your page: Political Cartoon.  Remember that political cartoons express an opinion about an issue or event, so your cartoon should be opposed to or in favor of one of the laws.
