The Honorable David Lewis Judge David Lewis, District 5. Lewis was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and is the first African American to serve on the Court of Criminal Appeals. Governor Brad Henry appointed him to the position on August 4, 2005. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree with high honors from the University of Oklahoma in 1980. He also earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law in 1983. He spent four years in private practice. He served four years as a Comanche County prosecutor. Lewis was a special judge from 1991 to 1999. He was a district judge for Comanche, Stephens, Jefferson, and Cotton counties from 1999 to 2005. He has served as president of the Oklahoma Judicial Conference and is a fellow of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was selected as a member of the Class of 2008 Henry Toll Fellowship Program of the Council of State Governments and served as Board Chairman of Reach Out and Read Oklahoma. Judge Lewis has two children, David Jr. and Danielle.

Julia Adame Julia Adame works as a Senior Bilingual Mortgage Loan Officer for Bay Equity LLC. She is highly involved in the Hispanic community having graduated from Latino Leadership OKC Class I and serving as an Ambassador for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. OKC.Biz recognized her this year with an Forty Under 40 Award. Julia grew up in Ardmore and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. She is married to Adam LaGace, a Realtor. Together they have five children, one girl and four boys. They also have a super energetic Doberman pincher named Bully.

Teresa Carpenter Teresa Carpenter grew up in the Dickson area with five brothers and sisters and graduated from Dickson High School. Due to the fact that she grew up in the country, she never had the opportunity to become a Girl Scout. Teresa later went on to graduate from North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas with her Associate’s Degree. She is married and has a daughter and son. Her daughter was a Girls Scout for several years and now her granddaughter who lives in Forney, Texas became a Girl Scout last year. Teresa believes that the programs and benefits young women receive as Girl Scouts lasts them a lifetime.

Teresa has worked for the Valero Ardmore Refinery for the last 22 years. In that time, she served on the Volunteer Council as secretary for four years and then president for three years. The Volunteer Council helps out with various community needs and charities throughout the year. Teresa currently lives north of Lone Grove on 10 acres with two horses.

Chris Bruehl Chris Bruehl has more than 15 years of public service and currently serves as Director of Appointment for the Office of Governor Mary Fallin, a position he has held since she was elected in 2010. He is responsible for coordinating the Governor’s appointments to boards, commissions and task forces, among others. Prior to serving Governor Fallin, he served as Director of Appointments and Constituency Services for the Office of the Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives where he served on the staffs of former Speakers Todd Hiett, Lance Cargill, and Chris Benge from 2004 to 2010.

He also served on the staff of former Governor Frank Keating during his second term as Governor from 1998 to 2003 serving as both an Administrative Assistant and as a Cabinet Liaison and Public Policy Specialist where he served as a Liaison between the Governor’s Office and cabinet secretaries and agencies including Administration, Transportation, Agriculture, Environment and Energy. He also interfaced with constituents in helping with problems and policy issues concerning those areas. Mr. Page | 1 Girl Scouts – Western Oklahoma, Inc. Annual Meeting 2014 January 24, 2015 Bruehl also has worked in several campaigns. He served as Project Director for the Republican State House Committee from 2003-2004 where he coordinated fundraising efforts which helped lead to first Republican majority in the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 82 years. In 2006, he served as Finance Director for the Todd Hiett for Lieutenant Governor campaign. Mr. Bruehl is a member of the Norman Sooner Rotary in Norman and was selected in 2013 as a Norman Next Under 40. He is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Political Science in 1997 and Norman High School in 1993. He currently resides in Norman, OK.

Marilyn Jenkins Marilyn Jenkins was raised in Weatherford and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Business Administration. She has one daughter and four step-children. After living in Enid for 23 years, she and her husband Larry moved to Edmond in May 2014.

While living in Enid, she worked at Security National Bank, Edward Jones and retired as a commodity broker in 2003. After retirement, she started volunteering and served on the YWCA board in Enid from 2008-2014 and as board president from 2011-2013. The YWCA of Enid selected her as Volunteer of the Year in 2013.
