UK Distance Charts – Issue 64 July 2012

The purpose of this section is to advise of any changes that have been implemented since the last issue of each individual chart. The charts may be manually amended accordingly. This issue completely replaces the previous issue, which should be discarded.

Any items added to UK Distance News since the last edition are marked * in the left margin.

Table 1 OB Milton Road should be 35m16c, OB Park Road should be 35m35c and OB Hamlet Road is 35m43c Replace PSR at 1m 63 with 1m 60- 20 up/ 50 down. Add new PSR at 2m 73 (30 wbd 60 ebd) and 4m 35 (60 wbd 70 ebd).Alter all ebd PSRs between the two to 60. Alter 6 MP PSR to 60 both ways and the next two ebd to 60. Table 1b Add Neutral Sections at 7m 79, 32m 03(down) and 32m14(up). Table 5 Add new station SOUTHEND AIRPORT at 39m 44, T Pt SFB. Table 5b * Estuary O/A at 36m 07 and Goldens O/A at 44m55 have closed. Table 11 Delete PSR at 4m 15 and replace with one at 4m 28 (80-70-50-60). IPSWICH has a new SFB to the north of the existing one distance currently unknown (Nov 2010). UB at 27m 25- delete Margaretting and replace with UB numbered 145. Add bdg* at Finningham at 86m 44. Swainsthorpe- alter timing point from UB to LC. Insert a line at Stratford noting that “ A further line-Avoiding Line- runs via Pfm 10A to Maryland to the north of the Down main-PSR 30 mph throughout” Rename the O/A at 84m 77 to Gooderhams. Name OBs at 24m 19 to Rays Footpath and 24m 42 to Rays Cottage. Alter 28m 71 OB to Cherry Gardens . The locally advised PSR at Stowmarket South Junction is 70 mph. Amend footnote * to include class 321/322/360 emus and class 90/Mk III trains. Insert new Neutral Section at 43m 50. * Delete PC at 80m 27 closing 09/06/12. Table 11b Amend the PSR at MARKS TEY to 15. Add new O/A Pitmire at 55m 44 and name that at 56m 38 Casefield. O/A at 55m 62 is named Burnthouse. Table 11c Add Neutral Sections at 52m 28 Junction at 52m 65 amend to Hunwick Junction East Gate Junction Box* delete. Up 35 PSR at 52m 61 alter to start at 52m 55 and add % (=40 mph in the up direction) against Up PSRS At 51m 75 to 52m33. Table 11d East Gate Junction Box* delete Table 13 East Suffolk Jn to WESTERFIELD updated to correspond with new issue 13a. Table 20 (Omitted from January) All PSRs from 6m49 to 6m42 are now 40. Table 22 Platform 1 extended 3 chains from London so alter 4/8 car distances to show existing for Pfm 3 and add entries for Pfm 1 three chains further on. Similarly with the BS distances. Add note that these are official distances and have to be confirmed. Table 22a Insert CAMBRIDGE (Pfms 7/8)SFB at 55m 58, station centre distance 55m 70. Add notes # 15 southbound from Pfms ¼ to the Up Main and ** Speed on Up Through. All connections and lines through Dec 2011 Pfms 7/8 is 15 mph. Delete Red Cross Lane LC at 54m 18 closed 03/12. Table 22b Platform 1 extended 3 chains from London so alter 4/8 car distances to show existing for Pfm 3 and add entries for Pfm 1 three chains further on. Similarly with the BS distances. Add note that these are official distances and have to be confirmed Table 22d OB at 4m46 increase PSR to 40 both ways. Insert Olympic Park Junction at 4m 24 (official distance to be checked). Amend both STRATFORD PSRs to 25. Add new PSR at 4m 14 (25 sbd 40 nbd) and Neutral Section at 4m 17. Amend sbd PSR at Olympic Park Junction to 25 and in the speed col. above insert 25 xvrs Table 25 Remove EMU enhancements at Royston, now 50 for all. Move Cam Farm name to 48m 70 and replace with College Farm. Delete LC part of Downham Market Box/ LC. Add CAMBRIDGE (Plats 7/8) SFB centre 55m 70 PSRs 15++ nbd and sbd. Note ++ 15 mph all lines/connections to Plats 7/8. Table 26 The chart has been enhanced with the addition of more underbridges, crossover and junction information and this will appear on the website in April. The chart will be reprinted at a future date and in the meantime a copy will be available free of charge to non-internet members upon request to the Editor. See Table 39 for a change outside YORK. Table 26a Add Tollerton Junction sign at 9m 42ch. OB at 72m 30- remove A 693 reference and transfer to OB at 72m 67.

Table 26b NORTHALLERTON (S’bd) delete SFB and leave blank. Amend sbd PSR at Crossing (5m 40) to 50mph. Add new PSR at 9m 20 and show this and PSRs at 9m 08 and 9m 27 as 50 mph both ways.

Append (note) to the SFB entry and add note at the table foot: NORMANTON is an long island platform with staggered platform surfaces confined to the north end. Initial surveys indicate that the MP gap at Dodworth has been removed affecting structure distances beyond. To be confirmed. Amend Dodworth LC to 3m64ch and DODWORTH to 3m65ch. Amend UBs at 12m59 and 4m56ch to OB. Amend West Silkstone Junction to Barnsley Junction. The 25 PSR which applies from 4m 07 to 4m 10 has been altered to apply from 4m12 to 4m17. *Add new PSRs at 0m 67 (nr Hudds) 50sb/ 10/50DMU nb and 0m 51 10/50DMUI sb/40; the latter PSRs also apply to 0m 56 and 0m 48. Table 44b SALTBURN westbound PSRs are now 15 to 27m37 then 30 to 27m13, 20 to 27m02, 40 to 26m74 and as before. Whitehouse Box- replace 35 westbound PSR with 60.

Add at 10m 09ch (Nuneaton) Midland Yard Junction Pts. Remove 15 xvr at Lakenheath. * Sluts Hole LC at 112m 32 has closed. Table 50 Delete PSR at 0m 20 (KIdsgrove) and alter wbd PSR at 0m 08 to 70 and the line beneath. Delete Bostocks LC at 9m 04. Add new PSR at 10m 46 40/70DMU ebd, 70 wbd; amend PSR at 13m20 to 60 wbd, 40/70DMU wbd. Alter intervening PSRs both ways to 40/70DMU. Table 53 LUTON amend Up Slow PSR to 55* (add note * 20 mph Plat 2) against 30m 19 to 30m 39(inc). The gap in the Down/Up slow line between Harrowden and Kettering South Junction has been filled.PSR 90mph between the junctions. Delete reference to Ratcliffe South Junction at MP 118. PC at 80m34 is named Braybrooke. Alter the transition from 90 to 95 on the Down Main at W Hampstead from 4MP to 4m 06ch. Insert new PSR at 112m 33, same speeds as Lough N Jn. At 112m 40 amend both SL entries to 75 and Following rows to 117m 76(inc). New PSR at 118m 05 with SL PSRs 75 and 50-ML unaltered. Delete Draycott GF. Add new PSR points at 99m74 and 103m 58 and alter the Slow Line PSRs only between and including these points to 65mph. Add new PSR at 104m04 (FL 110 both) and SL 20 sbd/50 nbd. Add new PSR point at 19m 57:- 80 slow lines and 100 sbd Fast, 95 nbd Fast. Slow Line PSR improvements Syston-Loughborough: Add PSR 104m40 50sbd: 65 nbd and infill nbd PSR of 65 to new PSR at 110m 55: 65sbd; 50nbd. At PSR point 111MP amend sbd SL PSR to 65 and at new PSR 109m10 to 60 reverting to 65 at new PSR 108m40. At new PSR 105m03 the sbd SL PSR reduces to 50 to 104m 04(above). Delete Hills O/A at 93m 49ch Insert new PSRs south of ST ALBANS: 19m62 100/95/80/80 and 19m65 100/95/65/65. Amend PSR at 4m 06 to 4m 04. Add new PSR at 29m 35 (95,95,85,70);add PSR 29m57(95,90,85,70);amend 29m59(90,90,85,70). Delete PSRs at 30m 27, add PSR at 30m30ch(100,100,55*,85) Remove PSR at 29m 35. Alter nbd slow line PSR at 29m 57 to 85mph. Insert new Neutral Section(all lines) at 13m 32c New PSR point at 37m 07:70/90/110/110. Watkins Crossing at 87m 02 has closed and is to be deleted.

Insert new PSRs at 118m 31 (same as E M Pwy) and 118m 36-SL 40 and 50 FL 110 both. New PSR also at 119m 17 with 70 PSRs ML ,40 and 25 SL. Infill intervening SL entries as 40 both ways. Insert new up SL entries of 25 against Trent South Jn. Delete PSR at 119m 77 and replace with one at 120m 03- 30 and 80. Trent PSB PSR amend to a single 30. Insert CHESTERFIELD (Platform 3) cen at 146m 13 Table 53g Amend nbd PSR from 79m 70 to 80m 40 to 40 mph and 80m 72 to 82m 04 to 60. 60 now applies sbd from 82m 04 to 79m 58. Table 55 Insert new PSR points 142m40 and 143m 40.Insert s’bd 20 PSR against 142m 40 and 50 against the next two entries and 143m 40, Add PSR point at 138m 60 (40 up 60 dn);alter next down inc 139m41 to 60 mph. Note closure of Kirkby Summit box from 12/9/11. PC at 137m 65 is Kirkby Hardwick. Newstead Tilford Road LC is changed to Newstead LC from 12/9/11. Table 56 PSRs northbound BELPER to UB @ 136m60 amend all to 80/100. Table 57 Bristol East Junction- extend note giving official handover adding from December 2010 118m 02/0m 26. Add new PSR at 0m 33 with up lines at 40 and down lines 25 mph. All PSRs at Bristol E Jn are 25 now Delete ub at 79m 06. OB 94m 74ch- unfortunately the cumulative distance figures are 0.61 miles too high south of here and also north to Birmingham and similarly 0.61 northwards to Birmingham from the OB. Amend entry at 107m14 (Paddington MPs) to Midland Rwy UB/Westerleigh Jn UBE/pts. Add Stoke Gifford Junction sign at 111m 74ch(Paddington MPs). Delete Arblasters O/A at 14m 01. Alter sbd PSRs from 20m 73 to 29m 29 to 125 and 120 from there to 32m 37(inc). Similarlt 120 from 33m 10 to 29m 40 and 125 on to 23m 01 inc. Table 57d PSR changes;new at 31m 44 45nbd 40sbd; amend sbd at 31m 45 to 40 and all 20 mphs to 25. Table 59 Add York Way North Junction at 0m 13 Alter PSR at 3m30 (Channelsea area) to 3m 31. Insert new PSR point at 2m 05 and insert 40 mph Ebd, 45 wbd; alter Victoria Pk xvr entry to 40 ebd/45 wdbd and 2m 48 PSR enrty above to 25 ebd/45 Wbd. Amend Neutral Section from0m 19 to 0m 03 at Camden Rd Jn. Amend Following PSR at 0m 20 to 0m 14. Delete box at Gospel Oak Jn and replace the timing point at Willesden Jn HL Junction, prev. Box with Pts. * Bollo Lane box* has closed from 4/6/12, LC remains. Table 59a The official distance for the High Meads Loop Enclosure has been amended to 0m 28 to 0m 47. Table 59c The Channelsea curve has been singled so alter the entry at the North Jn to a single 15mph. Table 59d
