MEN’S NEWSLETTER 05 MARCH, 2015.

NEW DROP ZONES/HAZARD EXTENSION. NEW DROP ZONES AROUND THE GREEN KEEPERS SHEDS: Interpretations of the rules around the green keepers sheds have been stretched for a long period of time. To simplify this the sheds will have a line painted around them and 2 new drop zones marked. If you are within the lines from the 8th hole there will be a drop zone between the shed and the large tree. If you are within the lines from the 10th tee there will be a drop zone between the shed and the Ladies 10th tee. HAZARD AT THE REAR OF THE 5th GREEN. There has always been confusion as to whether or not the path to the 6th is part of the hazard. There will now be a line painted on the path joining the 2 hazard stakes, therefore if you are on the path in the hazard you can drop in the drop zone that is at the rear of the 5th green. Both of these changes should be in force by the weekend.

TOMKINS WAKE NZ SPEED GOLF OPEN. Well done to Landyn Edwards who won the NZ Speed Golf Open held at Rotorua. Landyn’s time was 23.27min for the front 9, 27.07min for the back 9, making a total of 50.34min. Add his Gross of 69 and he had a total of 119.34. Nick Willis was second with a split times of 18.30min & 19.30min with a gross of 84. His total being 122.00. As of today we have received over $3,300.00 in donations towards Landyn’s trip to the U.S.A. for the world finals. All those that donated went into a draw for tickets to the Holden PGA Championships this weekend. Every $50.00 gave you one entry into the draw. The winner was Charlie Low. There is still 1 ticket available if someone wishes to go to the PGA. See Don in the office. First come first served. Thank you all for your support for Landyn.

NEW CLUB BROCHURE. A new club brochure has been produced and is available to members from the office. The purchase price is $10.00 each. This brochure has been supplied to the club free of charge by Premier Publishing and will be used for promotion of the club, and as a fundraiser for the club. Premier Publishing have also distributed 1000 of the brochures to postal addresses around Rotorua. VICTOR JANIN. Brian Perry Classic at St Andrews Hamilton. On Friday, Bay of Plenty Professional Kieran Muir was the best of a quality field in winning the event with a 4 under score of 68. Played in a pro am format with professionals leading teams consisting of one talented junior and three amateur supporters of the charity, Muir was good enough to head off Ryan Fox, Josh Geary, and Victor Janin by one stroke. Muir conceded that his form has been a little off and he hopes this is an indicator of good things to come heading into The NZPGA Championship at Remuera later this week and The NZ Open at The Hills the week following. The Brian Perry Foundation have embraced the Pro Am format as a fundraiser for their highly successful charity work. Their team was ably lead by Jennifer Palmer and Murray Gutry and testament to their efforts is how quickly they fill their amateur teams every year. Ten scholarships were handed out to junior golfers and an exciting prize table was shared with the leading teams. Yesterday Victor got his qualification for the Holden NZ PGA Championship - Remuera - 5th - 8th March
