Xiang Fang - Vitae Page 6 of 10 4/3/2018 Research in Progress

1) “Problems Dealing with Rapid Information Technology Change in Different National Cultures" - This is a project with Skip Benamarti, and Albert Lederer. Data collection is done. A manuscript is being written.

2) “Cross Cultural Study about Software Privacy”- This is a project with S. Lee. A conference paper was accepted in a refereed conference mentioned above. Literature is finished. About 17, 00 valid responses were collected from US, China (three universities in China), Japan, Korea (two universities in South Korea), and Vietnam. We are now dicing and slicing the data pie and trying to write at leas 3-4 papers based on the data collected. For example, we are writing a paper “Empirical Analysis of Software Piracy in US and China”, and “Empirical Analysis of Software Piracy in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam”.

3) “The Role of Multimedia in Changing First Impression Bias and Decision Confidence in a Cross Cultural Setting”-This is a project with T.M. Raj. The authors (previously published in Information Systems Research) shared their detailed instruments and experiment design with us. The data set included 230 responses collected from those Chinese participants and 190 responses from those American participants in our experimental study. The literature review for this study was done. Hypotheses development was finished, and we are analyzing another part of the data set for a different paper. Based on MISQ reviewers’ comments, we started another round data collection in fall 2010, using subjects who had fulltime managerial experience.

4) “Role of Cultural Factors in Reducing First Impression Bias”, with T.M. Raj. This project is the continuation of the above project. Specifically, we are measuring each specific national dimension in our survey instrument. We already started literature review and instrument design by utilizing House’s instrument and Benbasat’s instrument from their former research. We already stared data collection in fall 2010, using fulltime managers as our experiment participants.
