Please Note: Before proceeding, all instructions, steps, equipment, tools, maintenance, repairs and persons or staff, MUST meet all Federal, State, Local and Environmental Regulations, Laws, Corporate Rules, Guidelines and/or any Compliance Requirements related to UST and sump equipment. Please refer to all Equipment Manufacturer instructions, warranties and/or manuals prior to applying The Iron Ox Process to UST Sumps. All Safety and Compliance requirements are the Responsibility of the UST Owner/Operator. Review all label hazard and product warnings.

Step 1  Open sump and ventilate area well.  Remove all water and debris from sump floor.

Step 2  Remove all sludge, rust flakes, chips and scale from metal surfaces with brass or plastic scrapers or brass (non-sparking) wire brushes. Remove all debris from sump floor.  Include all parts and pipes of STP motor and assembly.  Wipe Copper Tube clean. If Copper Tube is severely corroded, remove corrosion with Bronze Wool.

Note: It is OK to leave surface rust, it is important to remove gross debris and any scaling off of metal surfaces. THE IRON OX PROCESS Instructions and Safety List Step 3  If Brush - pour approximately 1/2 “Steel Curtain” contents into small container or cup, use brush to apply. Avoid Spill.  If Spray – set sprayer to “Stream” and add “Steel Curtain” per sprayer instructions.  Apply “Steel Curtain” liberally to all metal / rusted surfaces with sprayer from above sump (to avoid inhalation) or paint brush if inside sump. (In case of strong or annoying fumes, pause and move away from sump, return and continue).  Make sure to leave no rust showing, including copper tube.  Wait 30 minutes and apply Second Coat (remainder) of “Steel Curtain”. Use full bottle if necessary. (Sumps with minor rust or corrosion may require less.)  Metal will become darker 45 to 60 minutes. (Different Metals turn black at different rates.)  Let dry.

Step 4  Pour approximately 1/2 “24/7 Plus” contents into second, small container or cup. Use second brush to apply. Avoid Spill.  Apply “24/7 Plus” liberally to all metal surfaces with brush.  Cover all metal components. Avoid fumes and inhaling. Use entire contents to ensure all metal surfaces are coated.  Pump will have wet or shiny appearance.  Let stand 7 to 10 minutes. THE IRON OX PROCESS Instructions and Safety List

Step 5  Attach Vapor Emitter Bulb to ¾” PVC stick. (Do not use glue.)  Determine position of ¾” PVC stick with Vapor Emitter Bulb.  PVC stick can be placed along side pump, affix plastic tie bands. Or  PVC stick can be placed at angle to lean with emitter bulb positioned over pump.  (Example photos are available at www.theironox.com.)  PVC length should be cut to allow stick (with bulb attached) to remain above all sump components within a closed sump. Cut to length that allows for highest position of Vapor Emitter Bulb.  Mark date on sticker provided, replace bulb after 12 months.  Replace sump lid.

Maintenance: (Step 6)  Liberally mist entire STP and sump area with ”Quash!”  Continue to mist all metal within sump bi-monthly.  Spray 4 -6 ounces per use. Quash! is used to control acid based condensation that forms on sump equipment. Wipe off any excess condensation and liberally mist entire sump area and components with Quash! For maximum corrosion control, spray Quash! on all metal components each time the lid is removed. Acid may turn white in color as it reacts with Quash!
