INTRODUCTION THOMAS L. HARTSELL, JR. is a lawyer and mediator in private practice and is the coauthor of "THE PORTABLE LAWYER FOR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, AN A-Z GUIDE TO PROTECTING YOUR CLIENTS, YOUR PRACTICE AND YOURSELF (3rd Edition)", "THE PORTABLE ETHICIST, AN A-Z GUIDE TO RESPONSIBLE PRACTICE (2nd Edition) ” and “THE PORTABLE GUIDE TO TESTIFYING IN COURT FOR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, AN A-Z GUIDE TO BEING AN EFFECTIVE WITNESS” published by John Wiley & Sons. He is a frequent lecturer to mental health professionals and organizations. During his career he has authored or coauthored over 75 articles and book chapters and over the past ten years has delivered over 100 professional lectures. He has served on the adjunct faculty of Texas Woman's University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry. He currently serves on the full time faculty at Southern Methodist University teaching courses in the both the Dispute Resolution and Counseling Programs and serves as Associate Director of Clinical Services Dispute Resolution.
