As the Red Foxes accepted their trophy, 24 supporters began making plans to watch their team do the same 25 next year; and 26 27 Whereas, over a successful 224 season, the Hartsville team grew 28 more aware of how to put their talents to use and how to forge 29 winning strategies with a marked determination; and 30 31 Whereas, the Red Foxes put their agility, speed, and perseverance 32 to the test as they scored and rebounded in the title contest, leading 33 at halftime by six points and extending that lead as the game 34 progressed; and 35 36 Whereas, drawing on his own athletic ability and leadership skills, 37 Head Coach Aric Samuel, who as a young boy was coached by 38 Senator Gerald Malloy in the Hartsville Recreational League, was 39 ably assisted by Coach Calvin Shaw, leading the Red Foxes to 40 their firstever statechampionship victory; and 41

[1493] 2 1 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate take great 2 pleasure in recognizing the young athletes of the Hartsville High 3 School basketball team for their fine example both on and off the 4 court and anticipate hearing of their continued successes in the 5 years to come. Now, therefore, 6 7 Be it resolved by the South Carolina Senate: 8 9 That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, 10 recognize and honor the Hartsville High School basketball team 11 for a successful season and commend its outstanding players and 12 coaches for capturing the 2012 Class AAA State Championship 13 title. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 16 Principal Charles E. Burry, Jr., and Head Coach Aric Samuel of 17 Hartsville High School. 18 XX 19
