Advocacy Rotation Monthly Calendar of Events:

1) Legislative Day: You will also need to schedule an appointment for a “Read Review” meeting with Dr. Hardt. You should do this the first day or two of the rotation as Dr. Hardt’s schedule is VERY full. (For your convenience, Amy Cole may have already scheduled this appointment for you)

2) Home visits with Healthy Families: a. The resident should call the first day of the rotation to schedule a time and meeting place for a half day home visit with a FSW. 3) WIC clinic: a. Clinics occur everyday at the Family Services Center, 3600 NE 15th street …off Waldo road. b. You are to meet with the lactation consultant or the nutritionist (resident choice) c. The lactation consultant is not available the 2nd or 4th Mondays and the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

4) CPT clinic: a. Scheduled for two different half days and located on the 2nd floor of the CMS building. b. 5) Burn Clinic: a. Burn Clinic occurs the first, third, and fifth Thursday morning of each month and is located in the Pediatric Specialties Clinic on the 2nd floor of the Medical Plaza building. Upon arrival at clinic, please report to the ARNP, Lauren Indelicato, as she will direct your clinic activities. b. The objective for this clinic is for you to gain knowledge regarding diagnosis, risk factors, management, treatment, and sequelae of burns. c. The contact is Anita Harrell. Wed. & Fri. - 9 AM – 12 PM ii. Eastside - 410 N.E. Waldo Road : Mon. - 1PM-3PM iii. Tower Square – Archer Road & SW 75 Street : Tues. - 9 AM-12:30 PM iv. 7) Pediatric Dental Clinic: a. The contact is Dr. Marcio Guelmann: [email protected]. Be sure to e-mail Dr. Guelmann the night before you report to clinic. b. Clinic mornings are Monday or Tuesday starting at 0815 or Wednesdays starting at 0900 and is located in the West entrance of Shands, first floor, room D1-40 c. You can wear scrubs. d. The objective of this encounter is for you to feel adept and comfortable at recognizing ECC (Early childhood caries).

8) ‘Healthy Communities’ Monthly Meetings

This group meets the first Monday of the month (except in summer) from 10AM-12PM at the Health Department Conference Center. The attendees include a diverse group of public health types ranging from folks from community gardening and school lunch programs just to name a few. It is a great opportunity to see what a community coalition can be. They typically have 2 or 3 presentations lasting about 20 mintues each so that different agencies can let the group know what they are doing. SHIP (School Health Interdisciplinary Guidelines): Meetings occur weekly at the Reitz Union Ampitheater The contact is Lyndsey Van Der Laan at 850-276-3794 or [email protected] or Rajeeb Das at 334-1367 If you attend your school on Mondays or Tuesdays (Idylwild and Lake Forest) your weekly meeting is every Friday at 4:00 PM If you attend your school on Wednesdays or Thursdays (Terwilliger and Rawlings) your weekly meeting is every Monday at 4:30 PM SHIP meetings are your preparation for work at your assigned school. You are expected to attend at least two SHIP meetings and be on-site at your assigned school weekly. This counts as “1” community project activity.

Additional Community Project Activities 1) Mobile Outreach Clinic - One shift during the month. See website with calendar for location etc. Schedule will also denote other medical personnel in attendance (i.e. Family Practice residents) and you should avoid these dates if possible. This participation counts as “1” community project activity. (If possible, Amy will try to have this activity scheduled on your assignment calendar whenever possible)

2) Volunteering at Boggy Creek Camp can also be designated as a Community Project activity. Consult with Dr. Lossius regarding this option.
