These Instructions Apply to the 3B4 Unit. If You Have a Skid Plate, It Will Be Easier If

These instructions apply to the 3B4 unit. If you have a skid plate, it will be easier if you remove it to access the bottom bolt on the servo. I recommend having the bike in 2wd if possible before removing the servo. If your servo quit in 4wd or diff lock it’s no big deal just keep everything (button, slide gear in the diff, servo) in the same position throughout the process. Drain gear oil. Remove the 3 10mm bolts that hold the servo to the diff.

Remove the six phillips head screws that hold the servo assembly together and it will look like this. Once apart you’ll see the motor and the two small phillips screws holding it in. Take care not to turn the big black gear. Remove the screws and carefully pry up on the old motor to remove it. Replace with the new motor.

If you didn’t turn anything while apart, the unit should still be in time and should work properly. I always recommend plugging it in and trying it before you bolt it on the diff to ensure proper operation. If you did happen to turn the gears inside and got it out of time, check for timing marks on the back side where the metal gear sticks out. Line up the marks and that’ll be 2wd mode. If there are no marks, check my website out at www.501parts.com for a video on retiming the servo. Once the servo is in 2wd position, make sure your button is in 2wd, and have the slide gear inside the diff in the 2wd position. (2wd is to the left or to the front of the bike on ATV’s if you’re sitting on the seat) On Rhinos 2wd is to the right if you are sitting in the seat. You can make sure you’re in 2wd by jacking the front wheels up and turning them. Don’t forget to fill up with gear oil after installation.
