LRMS Concert Chorus

2017-2018

Welcome to the LRMS Concert Chorus!!! Here are some nuts and bolts concerning the LRMS Concert Chorus.

1) Supplies needed are a binder, paper and pencil. In Chorus we use pencils and not pens, so please have a pencil.

2) We are a performing group. It is vital that all members of the LRMS Concert Chorus participate in the performances. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, the concert dates for this year will be able to be chosen. When that is done, they will be posted on the Canvas site. This is considered a Project Grade.

3) Performance attire is white top, black bottom (slacks, pants or skirt) and black shoes. The top needs to be sleeved (short or long), white, and blank; please no graphics or writing on the shirt. The men are to wear black pants. The women may choose between slacks or a skirt that is at least knee length. No shorts or short skirts. All tops and bottoms must conform to Wake County Public School Dress Code.

4) There are several county, state and national chorus opportunities.

 NC Middle School Honors Chorus – this highly prestigious choir event takes place in Winston-Salem on November 11-12, 2017. Auditions for this choir are in Greensboro on September 28, 2017. Students interested in auditioning for this chorus must get an NC Middle School Honors Chorus packet, fill it out and return it by Friday, August 11, 2017.

 ACDA Southern Division Honors Chorus – this year this event will take place in Louisville, KY. The audition CD must be submitted by October 1, 2017. All interested students must let me know immediately, so we can begin work on preparing the audition.

 Wake County Middle School All County Chorus – This event will take place at Martin Middle School in Raleigh on February 9-10, 2018. Lufkin typically takes 5- 8 students to this event. Students wishing to take part will audition at Lufkin on Monday, August 14 and 16 from 3pm-4pm in the chorus room. Any students wishing to audition for this choir must be at both audition dates.  NC Middle School All State Chorus – this choir takes place in Greensboro on April 20-21, 2018. Lufkin typically takes 2-4 students to this event. Students wishing to take part will audition at Lufkin on Monday, August 14 and 16 from 3pm-4pm in the chorus room. Any students wishing to audition for this choir must be at both audition dates.

5) There may be other singing opportunities that arise throughout the year. Notification of these performances will be given with as much advanced knowledge as possible and not considered mandatory.

Grading Policy – Here is the breakdown of grades.

 60%=Tests, Major Assessments, Labs, & Projects

 25%=Quizzes

 15%=Class Work/Independent Work

 0% = Homework Completion (homework must be completed for students to be eligible for text/quiz retakes)
