2. Announcements -None

3. Reports/Updates/Announcements from departments and dean’s staff EVEN -Jones will be taking his UNIV students on a field trip soon. Ad has been placed for faculty position. AM

EECS -CS proposals have been approved. RC

Dr. Ren -Eagle Ford proceeding (meetings, planning, workshops, etc), watch for emails. Need ideas for core research facility.

Dr. Bailey -Univ will be having open forum today w/ candidate for strategic planning, mtg on Monday also.

Dr. Custer -Graduation reception will be held on Dec. 14th.

Mr. Hollingshead -There will be a software update over the holiday break.

Mr. McCoy -Bishop HS coming today w/about 20 students. Degree works still not working, contact myself and I will send a report to Dr. KingSanders. I will be out all next week.

Dr. Mills -Will be having audio conference w/new Director of CREST, also will be traveling to D.C.

4. Items for discussion/Action  Faculty searches- ME- description finalized, will send in. LP  New academic degree programs, minors, cert- CE- talk on new programs. JS  Writing Intensive courses- send in proposals and Dr. Bailey will pass on. BB  Recruiting- want to involve girl scouts + engr to do STEM visits in Harlingen & McAllen. BB  “College Software Plan” comm.- met once, pushing on survey to determine needs. RC  “Wireless Laptop requirement”- Challoo, Jones, Marsh & Ozcelik on comm. RC  Science Academy Visits- Medellin attended Nov. 30th session. PLTW personnel will also be here on Mon. if anyone wants to sit in on mtg. BM/SJN  Engineering Marvels- won an award for episodes. SJN  UNIV 1101 classes- Senior design classes will start presenting at UNIV classes. BB  Coastal Bend Business Plan Competition- Deadline to submit is Nov. 30th. SJN  Co-op/Internship initiative- Nathan making company contacts, encourage students to submit resumes, will be having info session for students soon. SJN/SC  Tenure, Promotion, Post tenure review- already processed, sent comm. 2 cases. Annual reviews due in Jan. 2013. SJN  IEP’s- were due on Nov. 7 th, send email labeled “IEP 2012- Dept of_____). SJN  Update on South Texas “Engineering Vision”- Laredo, Corpus & TAMUK, suggested more coastal oriented business. SJN  Catalogs- still need cleaning up. SJN  Websites- need updating, EECS are working on theirs. SJN  One-time merit allocation- turned in and asked for another 3-4K, which we got. SJN  HEF requests- were due by Nov. 15 th (send via email labeled “HEF 2012- Dept of ____). Only ½ were turned in. SJN  IEF requests- were due by Nov. 13 th (send via email labeled “IEF 2012- Dept of ____). I need to know today! Lab upgrades need to be presented as a group. SJN

5. Items for Discussion/Action  Articulation Agreements- TAMIU, will send electronic copy to depts. SJN  Standards of classroom conduct- faculty needs to enforce. SJN  Javelina Preview Days- one tomorrow, see attached schedule. SJN  “C” grade minimum?- What we are really talking about is raising standards, will talk more on next meeting. SJN  Others- computer based FE testing (LP). Looking for new PI to take over the summer camps, want a tenured faculty taking over (JR/SJN). ABET retreat on Dec. 6th at CKWC for faculty (BB).
