CCT: Magazine Spread Interiors - 30% of final mark Written project proposal – due May 26th Completed rough design – due June 2nd All planning documents, computer files and hardcopy of the spreads – due June 9th

1. CCT: CD Package Design Thinking/Inquiry • Brainstorm and think of ideas for your design • Plan and write out the steps you need to take to complete your design • Present your written ideas to a peer and receive peer feedback • Present your written ideas to the teacher and receive feedback • Revise your ideas and plans if necessary • Create a full, hardcopy sketch of each element of your package design

Knowledge and Understanding • Take a variety of high quality photos or create artwork to be used for your design • Create a “mood” in your artwork that is appropriate to the article • Move, adjust and edit photos in PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign • Choose fonts, adjust type styles, adjust sizes, use various text alignments, etc. Communication • Make a design that is original, visually interesting, has unity, and is aesthetically pleasing • Exceptional display of content in a stylistic way (interesting ideas, excellent design, unity, effective lighting, etc.)

Application and Creation • Use a template correctly to create the final digital copy of the spread designs • After your final art is printed, cut and fold your pages • Submit your written project proposal, psd files and completed printed magazine spreads

2. Study Tips

• review the Photoshop assignment we have done in class

• focus on the Photoshop techniques you found most challenging, try redoing these techniques to learn them correctly • write down any techniques you are unable to recreate and make time to meet with the teacher during class time or tutorial time to clarify these techniques

• look on the internet for Photoshop tutorials (such as how to use layers in Photoshop, how to use the text tool in Photoshop, how to adjust and resize images in Photoshop, How to make selections around photos in Photoshop, etc.)

• manage your time wisely (do not wait till last minute, make a time table, review Photoshop tools each day)

• Complete the practice lab exam (complete the design to the best of your ability, ask the teacher for assistance on parts you have difficulties with, ask other students in the class to find out various ways to work through issues) 3. Tutorials
