WINSLOW COURT PERSON SPECIFICATION Registered Manager, Ecclesbourne lodge

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Experience & Qualifications: 1. At least two years’ experience at a management/supervisory level in a statutory, voluntary or independent organisation that provides residential services for individuals with learning disabilities.

2. Proven work experience in either: nursing, social work, psychiatry or psychology OR demonstrable success in implementing and continually working with the Person Centred Planning model in a successful care home setting.

3. Hold QCF / Diploma level 5 or equivalent in leadership and Management or be working work towards that level.

4. Two years’ experience of directly and successfully line managing a team of staff.

5. Two years experience of hands on work with people who have a learning disability and who challenge services, a demonstrable background in first class care and best practice.

6. Have the skills to pass the ‘fit persons’ interview and criteria for Registered Managers as set by CQC

7. The ability to build relationships and work in partnership with the host Authority (Derbyshire) ensuring we meet their expectations and quality standards at all time.

Skills / Knowledge: 1. Excellent people management and interpersonal skills.

2. An ability to form positive working relationships with key stakeholders.

3. Excellent hands-on skills with people who have learning disabilities and who have behaviours which are seen to challenge services.

4. Good verbal and written communication skills.

5. Ability to work under pressure.

6. Working knowledge of the Health & Social Care Act 2014, current CQC regulations and the inspection framework. Willingness to develop knowledge further

7. Knowledge of Health & Safety Procedures, performance management techniques, recruitment and selection processes. Willingness to develop knowledge and skills

8. Highly organised maintaining attention to detail and a commitment to following tasks through to a close.

10. Valid current driving licence

11. Discreet, diplomatic and the ability to keep information confidential.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

1. Experience of developing, implementing and monitoring behavioural interventions and skill teaching programmes.

2. Experience of liaison with and co-ordinating input from specialists, in particular with psychiatrists.

3. Experience in chairing meetings.

4. Experience in dispute resolution and processes – grievance and discipline for example.

5. Experience in strategic planning for a care provision.

6. Experience of transition and preparing / developing service users to integrate / move on to supported living.

7. Working knowledge of managing service user’s finances according to service policy and protocol. Knowledge of understanding benefits and managing a delegated budget.

8. Current successful working relationships with social care practitioners and other professionals. Ability to demonstrate the skills required to communicate with senior colleagues from other disciplines such as commissioners and those who purchase care packages.
