Description of work involved Customer service for registered campers within campground area after park closing hours. Duties include, but are not limited to, welcoming campers, assisting with registration and late arrivals, explaining rules and regulations, event/program coordinator, and primary contact for campers’ questions and concerns when staff is unavailable. Hosts can assist on monitoring campgrounds and entrance gates on days parks are closed. Hosts may also be asked to assist in the park office; light maintenance within campground sites to include restroom cleaning, grills and fire rings, trash removal, campground inspection prior to and after rentals. Special skills such as carpentry, painting, and grounds keeping will be gratefully accepted. The park will provide the campground hosts with a designated site determined by park management. Hosts must provide their own camping equipment. Seeking volunteers who will reside in park’s campgrounds for three months, with the opportunity to reapply, pending availability. Hours volunteers can work Variable, depending on each park’s needs. Level of difficulty 1-3, easy to moderate. 1=easy 5=physically demanding Skills required Enjoy working with the public; ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages; computer experience preferred; valid driver’s license. Shady or full sun area Exposure can vary from full to partial depending on task or time of day. Sun protection is recommended. Access to restroom facilities There are restroom and shower facilities in each of the park’s campground areas. How many volunteers are needed Individuals, couples, and families. for this project? Individuals Small Group-up to 30 Large Group-over 30 How often do volunteers need to Volunteer’s responsibilities will vary at each site, with a minimum of work on site? 25 hours per week for an individual and 40 hours per week for a couple/family. Also, volunteers must be available to campers who are in need of assistance during holidays and when park offices are closed. Tools and equipment provided Tools, equipment, and cart will be provided as needed. Tools volunteers can bring if desired As approved by park manager. Personal Protective Equipment will We will provide personal protective equipment as needed and be provided as needed instruct in proper use. Project Start Date Ongoing. Project Completion Deadline Ongoing. Duration of program Per agreement with park management per site. Volunteer Application Deadline Must be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to Campground Host assignment. Volunteers need to complete the Volunteer Application, which includes a background check. Orientation/Training Campground hosts will receive orientation and training prior to their first night’s stay and continue as needed. Restrictions Must reside at designated site only. Hosts will not have free access to any other park amenities. Extra comments This is a great opportunity for individuals who are traveling on a budget and are planning on an extended stay in South Florida. This volunteer position provides a great venue to share your experience and creativity and to help develop camping-related outdoor activities and programs such as campfire storytelling, boating excursions, and fishing instruction. Help showcase what Broward County campgrounds and park facilities have to offer visitors and residents. Registered campers can be encouraged by the hosts to volunteer during their stay to help clean up the walking trails, etc.

All RV sites include grill, electricity, water, and sewer hookups.

Platform tent camping (Quiet Waters Park only) includes water, electricity, grill and fire ring.
