Goals and Objectives for the Course. (TEKS) . The student learns the employability skills of a successful employee to meet current industry standards and society. . Demonstrate knowledge of safe practices in the working environment. . Identify and safely use tools and equipment up to and including power tools and metal working tools. . Demonstrate the use of measuring and marking devices . Understand the different metal joining technology and processes as it relates to agriculture mechanics and the fabrication industry. . Understand and demonstrate the planning and performing of construction techniques of metal projects. . The student performs plumbing skills . The student performs concrete construction skills. . The student performs carpentry skills. . Identify methods for drilling, shaping, and filing metal. . Demonstrate proficiency in fabricating ag trailers and other projects up to and including wiring, paint prep, wood decking, welding, and other means of metal work. . The student demonstrates principles of facilities design and fabrication related to agricultural structures. . The student explores the different types of power systems used in agricultural facilities.

Guidelines for Success  Bring a positive attitude to class every day  Need to be willing to go in the shop and work every day.  Pay attention to all safety rules and regulation Classroom Activities  These will vary from week to week as it depends on the types of project that we have.  But you will be required to work daily for your grades

Clothing Requirements: Certain clothing/ protective wear is needed for this course. Lockers will be assigned to you, so you can store the items. All of the items can be found at can be found at Tractor Supply, Walmart, Academy, Cavender’s or your home!

YOU MUST PROVIDE THESE ITEMS:  Leather Shoes/ work boots. No open toe, tennis shoes, Vans, or Converse.  Long Sleeve Thick Cotton Shirts (Wrangler Work Shirt, or Dickies)  Denim Jeans  Slip joint pliers (channel locks or other brand) *  Safety Glasses*  Arc Welding Gloves*  Welding Hood* Items marked with an (*) asterisk will be provided to the students, but can be purchased and is a good investment.

Classroom Expectations and Guidelines: . Be on time, and ready to work . No Horse playing will be tolerated. . Respect yourself, others and property. . Bring necessary classroom supplies to class including proper Ag Lab attire. . No Food or Drinks in the classroom . No sitting on the desk, sit in the desk . No talking while I am talking or during individual assignments . Be prepared for class each day . Treat each other as you would want to be treated . Follow all other school rules and classroom procedures Consequences (not in any specific order): . Verbal/ Non Verbal Warning . One on one conference after class . After school detention working in the shop . Parent Phone Call . Principal Referral

Grading :

Percentages: 60% summative and 40% formative Summative grades:  Will be different test check how your ability is coming along. (cutting torch, welding, etc.) Formative Grades:  Weekly participation grade. ( every time a student is not involved in the lesson or working on his or her project they will lose 5points with a maximum of 25 pts each day)  Weekly safety grade. (Every time a student is not wearing the proper safety attire, including safety glasses, or not following the safety rules they will lose 5 points with a maximum of 15 points per day.) This will also be how your conduct grade is decided.  Other daily grades depending on topics

Every student must take a safety test and score a 100 on it before they are allowed to enter the shop.

Late Work Policy:

Late work will be accepted up to 5 school days after the due date with a penalty of _20 points per day. Tutoring: is made by appointment

General classroom procedure:

Entering the classroom: Come into the classroom ready to learn and find your desk. Then begin working on the bell work on the board.

Tardies: are defined as being inside the door jam by the final bell. If you are not in the door by the time the final bell rings then you will be sent to the OSOT station (house secretary’s desk) and you will not be allowed back into class without a pass

Paper and Pencil: You must bring something to write on and write with every single day of class. If you do not it will affect your participation grade.

Turning in Assignements: You are to turn in your assignments to the designated turn in box for your class with your name on it. If you forget to put yur name on it will be a 10 point deduction. If you do not take ownership of the assignment you will receive a zero.

Absences: When you are absent, it is your responsibility to go to the teacher and asked for the assignments missed.

Parent Communication: If there is a grade or a conduct issue I will call the parents of the student. I will also send out emails to parents with general information and updates on student progress in class.

Class Dissmisal :

1. Make sure your desk and area around your desk is clean

2. When the bell rings remain in your seat

3. #. Teacher will give you the signal that you can leave
