Mrs. Hosford ESOL

Vocabulary Assignment - Due Thursday of every week. Put this in your notebook. You will need it each week.

Directions: Choose one of the following activities to complete using this week’s vocabulary assignment. Be creative and have fun with the activity you pick. You only need to pick twenty words for this assignment.

1. Write a newspaper article, perhaps about the story or stories that contain this week’s vocabulary. Use twenty of the twenty-five vocabulary words in your article. Be prepared to share this with the class.

2. Create a skit, or short play, (with a partner) using 20 of this week’s vocabulary. You will act this out in front of the class.

3. Create twenty word boxes to include: a synonym, an antonym, a sentence, a definition, and the word. You will share this with the class.

4. Write a poem using twenty of this week’s words.

5. Write a letter to a character from one of this week’s stories, from the point-of-view of another character. You will share this with the class.

6. Create 20 “charades” to perform for the class. This means you act out the words to the class, and your classmates will guess them. You will share this with the class.

7. Develop your own crossword puzzle. Use the definitions as clues. Use the words as a word bank. Turn this into me by Wednesday if you want classmates to complete this.

8. Write a creative original story using the vocabulary words correctly.

9. Create a PowerPoint complete with pictures to describe the words, original sentences, the word, and the definition. You will share this with the class.

10. See me if you have your own idea!
